Not quite TSOP
In response to Optimal Saint’s non-Motown thread, I thought it would be interesting to get other labels involved. What songs can you think of that have a Philly Soul vibe, but didn’t feature key players Gamble & Huff, Bell & Creed, and recorded outside of Philadelphia! As with the other thread, no covers allowed.
Imagination- Gladys Knight & the Pips
Stoned Out of My Mind- The Chi-lites
Love’s Maze- Temprees
Philadelphia Freedom- Elton John
Outside Woman- Bloodstone
Stay In My Corner- the Dells

"You're My Best Friend My Love" from The Jackson 5's Joyful Jukebox Music LP truly has a Philly Soul influence.
-
Another song that reminds me of the Philly Soul sound is "[[I've Been A Winner, I've Been A Loser) I've Been In Love" by The Smith Connection.
-
I've always thought that "Does Your Mama Know About Me" by BOBBY TAYLOR & THE VANCOUVERS sounds very "Philly". I can just imagine it having being done by THE INTRUDERS. 😊

Keith Barrow - If It's Love That You're Looking For
Michael Stokes and Ronn Matlock of Detroit were behind this Detroit recording with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra providing the strings.... Russell Thompkins Jr and The Stylistics anyone?

Al Wilson - Show And Tell. a Hollywood production, but has that Philly percussion / rhythm thing going on with loads of strings and brass

I have been confused some times with this Roy Ayer's instrumental when I hear it on my mp3 reproductor because I have many MFSB, Salsoul Orchestra, RAMP and Roy Ayer's Ubiquity instrumentals and I think is a "typical" Salsoul Orch. number with his vibes part and the unmistakably Don Renaldo strings... and reallly sounds very much Philly:
