Has it been discussed on here that Scherrie Payne has released a cover version of Laura's "Crumbs off the Table?" I heard a few seconds and it sounded pretty good.

She's credited as writer on Laura Lee's single. Ms. Payne has also said that she wrote the song. Music industry politics being what they were back in those days it is certainly possible that the young black girl singer was not initially credited as the songwriter.

As always I learn so much from you guys! I had no idea that Scherrie had any prior connection to the song and I therefore assumed that the memo I just saw was about a brand new remake. Great song any way you slice it.
It has been stated in a number of interviews/articles over the years that Scherrie Payne was indeed co-writer of 'Crumbs Off The Table'. The original version by Glass House was on the album 'Inside The Glass House' and Scherrie also co-wrote two other tracks on the album, namely 'Hotel' and 'Heaven Is There To Guide Us'.Quote:
