Howdy, Nightfliers! After a very long break, it's time to continue The Complete Motown Singles collection. We left it in the midst of 1969, and that's where we'll pick it back up. Friendship Train was first assigned to the Temptations, who of course did have their later, longer version included as an lp track.

Fall of '69 was AMAZING Motown for me. I bought a ton of 45's that fall: Friendship, These Eyes, Someday, J5, Tops, Tempts, Marvin, Stevie - all in a 2 month period........ Nice to be back here. MJ - Love your show!!!!

Gregg....a pleasure...great to see you! Yes.....a cornucopia of classics in late '69!!!

It would be interesting to hear some of the other leads Michael recorded for I Want You Back - especially the Wilson Pickett style mentioned in the libretto.

"Farewell Is A Lonely Sound" was a Top 10 hit in the UK in 1970.

Oma=Oma Drake; Maiden name Heard
Dorothy= Dorothy Adams berry, wife of Richard Berry [[composer of Louie Louie)
Zelpha Crawford was a classmate of Oma's

Dorothy Berry leads the A -side'; Oma, the B-side

Wayne Henderson brought them from Watts to Stewart Levine's Chisa label.

Always had a soft spot for DLHTYLFM. I got this Tops 45 at Goodwill for twenty cents in the eighties and about wore it out. Its no Ask The Lonely but a nice performance nonetheless....

On their Facebook page, the Waters congratulate their cousin, Lamont Dozier!!!!!http://www.discogs.com/artist/441646...Willard-Waters shows several of the Motown albums for which the Waters provided background vocals.

This is a different version of My World Stood Still than the Anthology version by Chuck Jackson.

There is a longer [[and superior) version of "The Day My World Stood Still" on the Going Back to Chuck Jackson album.
