Were these the first two albums with Billy in the group?
Yes, they were the first 2.
yes, this is happening.
Excellent.
Great news!!! Renaissance is my favorite Miracles album - and that includes any with Smokey. Good to see this long forgotten gem is going get its full recognition and finally make it to CD. Critics loved this album, and so did I. But critics don't make hits and the album was not a commercial success. Still, Billy did for the Miracles what Jean Terrell did for the Supremes. They replaced group icons and kept the group alive and successful for a few more years. And did it well. My favorite song on the album is this. Motown released it as a single, but there were other songs that would have been more successful singles releases.

Aaaaaah.... A long-waited sigh of relief.....!
Thank you!!! "stop by say hello...have a cup...if you're ever in the neighborhood" Can't wait!!!
This is great news! "If You're Ever In The Neighborhood" and "I Love You Secretly" are two are my favorites from Renaissance. Are these releases similar to the Smokey Robinson 1970's album releases?
Have they been available on cd before? I thought at least 'renaissance' had.
The sound is great and the essay is by Peter Doggett, who did the Smokey solo album series notes, and there will be a surprise bonus track - and, a heads up before the official pre-sale announcement: with regrets, we will not be able to reproduce the lyric sheet[[s).
Thank you for the response. Sorry to hear about the lyric sheet, but I would rather have the music. These are my favorite post-Smokey Miracles albums. I remember buying Renaissance in 1973 and as we used to say back in the day... I played "If You're Ever In The Neighborhood" until it was white. "Calling Out Your Name" from Do It Baby is another favorite.
Now, we will be getting any 1970's Junior Walker any time soon?
I'd love to see the 70s Jr Walker lps come out, Johnny Bristol did some remarkable work with Jr. The Moody Jr lp is outstanding. Walk In The Night...should have been a major hit record
Love Machine & Do It Baby were two of the coolest Miracles songs ever!

An official cd release is good news but I will say this: it was released albeit a bootleg, years back and I've long enjoyed
it. Oh yea, and I have to agree with Jai aka arr&bee, I Love You Secretly is a classic. Maybe one of Marvin Gaye's greatest songs ever....
"I Love You Secretly is a classic. Maybe one of Marvin Gaye's greatest songs ever.... "
Amen to that splanky. No disrespect to Billy Griffin , but like with Marvins work with the Originals ,I often wonder how Secretly would have turned out with Marvin producing it with Smokey and The Miracles. As close as Marvin and Smokey was I wonder why that [[Marvin producing Smokey) never happened.
Thanks to HW and all involved for this exciting release. We've waited a long time for "Renaissance" to come out on CD. No doubt the best album with Billy Griffin in the group. Also looking forward to hearing Tom Moulton's mix of "Do It Baby".
Where is it cheapest? £21.07 on amazon.uk and $14.99 on amazon.com
AMAZON.UK PRICE CONVERTS TO 33 US Dollars. That sounds outrageous
I find that Importcds.com has one of the best prices here in the U.S. I've ordered the upcoming Spinners release rom them and I'll be placing my order for the Miracles set which they have listed at $11.29, the cheapest I've seen yet.
Cheers to Xtown. Every time I see one of your postings on the board I can't help but think of those velvetty Velvelettes! It's all good.

Thanks No Place.....I always smile when I see you. FYI, the ladies are still performing but not as much as they'd like to. The older ones are now over 70 years old but they can still get into those uniforms!
Thanks for the tip with the Miracles and the Spinners....!!
Oh no, international orders are not permitted!
£21.07 seems expensive..............I've just bought a 40 track Nat King Cole set [[ I've got 90% of the tracks but some nice rare bonus cuts) for £5 on Amazon.
As much as I want the Miracles, I'll see if it drops in price
Ah, bummer! Didn't notice that CDImports doesn't ship outside the U.S. Will keep you posted if I come across a good price for the Spinners or Miracles CD.
Glad to hear that the Velvelettes are still out there performing when they're able to. They're a superb group and excellent performers on stage...and more importantly, one of the very few groups we have left - with all original members - from Motown's golden era.
Billy Griffin is on Facebook if you want to add him as a friend.
I won't be ordering until Amazon UK bring the price down from £19.70.
It's gone up to £19.92!
Just received my copy. Can't wait to play it and read the booklet.
I am really enjoying this CD, these are some of the best tracks mid-70s Motown produced. Not a bad song on either and the Tom Mouton mix of Do It Baby is fantastic
While I realize What Is A Heart Good For was repeated for continuity, I would have prefered only one inclusion of this great song in favor of the single mix of Give Me Just Another Day
Xtown,
I'm not sure if "Blow It Outta Here" offers international shipping. You can pre-order the Miracles CD for $11.64:

and the Spinners for $14.91:

Thanks for posting this. I was not aware it was finally being released. Ironically, less than 6 months ago, I took my vinyl album of "Do it Baby" to one of those tape duplication companies to transfer it to CD, ultimately turning it into Mp3s for my iPod. I love "We Feel the Same" amongst an album of solid cuts.
And then in desperation for wanting "Wigs and Lashes" from "Renaissance", I downloaded a 3rd generation copy from YouTube.
I wish that Hip-O Select would be more consistent in getting out press releases on these classic albums.
But I am over the top that it is finally coming out on CD!
Now if we can get Don't Cha Love It on CD, another great mid-70s Motown lp
Well, hopefully we'll get another two-fer with Don't Cha Love It and The Power Of Music.
Amazon UK now has a release date july 9 at 10.9 uk pounds!
