Detroit Soul - Andrew Kingslow

Hi guys, I came across this album the other day, produced by Andrew Kingslow, called Detroit Soul. A compilation of some really good, authentic Motown sounding tracks I thought.

I donít know any of the featured singers on it very well, apart from James Hunter, of the James Hunter Six!

Here's my favourite track!!!!

House Of Beauty / HOB Records

In some quarters HOB is listed as a gospel subsidiary of Motown.

Seem to have a couple of recognisable names on their records early on - Herman Griffin & The Rayber Voices, Voices of Tabernacle, The Contours [[though I think that may be a different group).

Berry Gordy wrote [[and arranged?) "I Need You" and "I'm So Glad" for Herman Griffin. The music for "I'm So Glad" seems to be copyright to Rayber Music Writing Co. "I Need You" is the first song published by Jobete.

I've not read much about this label so I'm guessing the Motown connection may be overplayed, or is it?

Meet The Temptations - original Mono mix on CD?

On the 1999 reissue of Meet The Temptations the notes say that the album was originally released in March 1964 and "subsequently remixed and released in Stereo in 1966".

The 1999 CD is certainly the stereo mix.

Has the original mono mix of this album ever been released on CD?

If not, this would be a great place to start for an "Expanded Edition" program for The Temptations on physical CDs. All 50-plus albums!

Songs with dances in the title

Mickey's Monkey
Twistin' Postman
Come On Do the Jerk
Can You Jerk Like Me?
Shotgun
Hitchhike

All of the above songs were original compositions released on various Motown labels, and all contain the names of dances.

I know there are more. Can you name more songs released by Motown that contain the names of dances that are NOT covers?
