Gladys Knight to sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl

I am sadden that she is singing the Nation Anthem at the Super Bowl, especially considering the way the NFL has treated Colin Kaepernick and other players taking the knee for justice in America. I would be okay if she sung some other song, such as America, the Beautiful or God, Bless America. I won't be going to another Gladys concert.

Detroit or L.A. - what determined where songs were recorded?

I have always wondered why Motown chose to record some songs in L.A., especially in light of the different resultant sound.

I can understand there being studio capacity issue for all artists in Detroit and the need to perhaps provide an alternate location for those artists on tour. However, the choice of location does seem strange sometimes, for example with the Supremes A Go Go album. Why wasn't the whole album recorded in Detroit?

Does anyone have an insight into the rationale for the dual location recording regime please?

Thanks

"Come To Me": Marv or Mary, which version do you prefer?

As we mark the 60th Anniversary of Motown, let's talk about the label's first release, "Come To Me". Which version of the song do you prefer: Marv Johnson's original or Mary Wells' remake (my pick is Mary's version).

Antiques Roadshow features a Temptations Travel Trunkq

There was a story in the Free Press today that there are 3 upcoming episodes of Antiques Roadshow - Metro Detroit. The first is tomorrow 1/7 at 8 PM on Detroit public television and PBS. The second is 1/14 and the final 1/21.

The article states a circa 1966 travel trunk inscribed with the Temptations name is one of the items that was discovered during their recent visit. I do not know which one of the 3 episodes will feature it. Someone bought it way back for a mere $500. It will be interesting to see what they appraise it at now. Has anyone ever seen a picture of this item? I just saw another article in the Detroit News which has a collage of pictures and if you look at picture #9 of 12 there is a picture of the owner and the trunk.

This should be interesting. I had hoped there would be other Motown related items but this is the only one mentioned.

Chrisette Michelle trying for a comeback

https://newsone.com/3843909/chrisett...-inauguration/

I don't know what to think about Chrisette Michelle. She was warned by EVERYONE of the career-ending blowback she would get but she decided to perform at the inauguration in purposeful defiance. When you take a principled stand you must live it -- you don't come years later moaning and crying over the completely foreseeable, natural consequences of your knowing, intentional actions.

Also, I was never a fan so I don't have much invested in whether she can make a comeback. I am mostly familiar with her as one of Chante Moore's tormentors on "R&B Divas LA" (more poor judgment on her part).
