Norman Whitfield Unreleased

I’d like to firstly say Hello to you all. I have just joined having been a lurker for years so I recognise your names but obviously you won’t recognise mine.

As my first post I’d like to ask if anybody knows if there are unreleased tracks in the Motown Vaults produced by Norman Whitfield? With the 1970 Unreleased tracks hopefully making an appearance later this year, we are getting into Norman Whitfield”s most productive period and I’m hoping to hear something new from him.

Could have the Ronettes been bigger?

I always wonder what if the Ronettes wised up to Phil Spector around 1965 and went somewhere else. Could they have been bigger? I always felt like they could have been had Phil not held them back. Nedra said they were begging him to release better material on them but he wouldn't. I guess either way Nedra would have ended up getting replaced anyway as she grew disinterested in being a Ronette after she met her husband. Ronnie should have been a much bigger superstar than she was. I've seen her several times over the years and she is an amazing entertainer. Such great energy.

Does Marvin Gaye's Music Hold Up?

I've been listening to Uptown Nay Rob's delirious YouTube book club series focusing on Jan Gaye's (rather ... well ... sickening) book about her life with Marvin Gaye. It's led me to streaming some of his lps which I have not listened to in a long, long time. There's almost no discussion of Marvin's music here. So, I'm wondering - do we think Gaye's most mature music holds up?
