Jackson Five success rate for six years at Motown

I read in another article elsewhere that the J-5 were with Motown for six years.

The author of the article states that during the six years at Motown the group recorded 469 songs of which 174 were released. 37% of the recorded songs were released.

That would be an interesting statistic for some of the other groups. This is the first I ever heard a statistic such as this. Has anyone else heard any others?

I Want You Back - J5

I was listening to 'I want you back' by the J5 yesterday and was wondering if the Funk Bros recorded the backing track first, and if so, why was it rejected and Motown then decided to go with the west coast musicians? I remember reading something that Motown was not happy with the direction Bobby Taylor was taking the group and perhaps decided to scrap the whole Detroit project?

Does anyone remember these Summertime songs?

In case you are unaware, today, 6/21/25 is officially the first FULL DAY of summer. I heard this morning that summer actually started at 10 minutes of 11 last evening 6/20/25. So technically today is the first FULL DAY 2025.

That brings to mind some great songs that I recall from living in Central PA during the 1960's.

The first was Summertime, Summertime by the Jamies on the Epic label from 1958. This song was subsequently reissued in 1962.

The second was Summertime USA by the Pixies Three on the Mercury label from 1964. I was in Hanover, PA where the group was organized and they did a command performance at a local facility that was totally sold out.

Both of these songs were heavily played around 6/20 every year but they are faded into history today as you never hear them played.

There is a recording of both of these on Discogs. If someone is smart enough and knows how to copy and paste into a response to this posting you might be able to hear them and appreciate them. They are both classics.
