Four Tops' Soul Spin album

I wonder if this album is the only Motown album which didn't include any singles.

I am not keen on side 2 of the album but I feel side 1 has a couple of strong performances.

The Temptations I Know I'm Losing You Strange Hidden Vocal

I was listening to my favorite album With A Lot O' Soul with my headphones and on the track I Know I'm Losing You at the beginning when David starts to sing I can hear someone breathing and then whispering in the right channel but I can't make out what is said. I listened to the mono single version and it is not there. I then listened to the Greatest Hits Vol 2 which is in stereo and I can hear it there also. Any idea of what this is or how this is possible?

Disc O Tech - Motown Magic Disco Machine

Attachment 21664Attachment 21664

Finding myself at a loose end at the weekend I turned my attention to some of the nore 'obscure' Motown LP's in my collection that I'd been slow to transfer to digital a few of which fall into the 'Disco' genre in particular the Disc O Tech series of LP's.
I have to be honest and admit that I'd never really paid much attention to the Motown Magic Disco series of the 70's but decided to forge ahead and transfer them. In yet another cross ocean mix up it appears that Volume 1 of the set made it to the UK in it's original US form complete with green cover while Volume 2 in the US LOOKS entirely different to it's UK counterpart. Both feature the same tracks while the covers of Volume 2 are vastly different. The UK opts for a yellow background with a similiar photo whilst the US version changes to a new black drawn artwork cover featuring what looks like a 12 inch record, both countries have dropped the Disc O Tech branding.

In between the two releass UK Motown decided to release a 'Big Hits' kind of LP using the title Disc O Tech - a 13 track collection of tracks from the likes of Yvonne Fair, Temptations, GC Cameron and the Supremes - that LP reverts back to the design of the Motown Magic Disco Machine Volume 1 but uses a pink background. If that were not confusing enough UK Motown liking the theme decides to issue a second volume Motown Disc O Tech Volume 2 with the same variety of tracks from almost the same line up as volume 1 but the cover is wildly different and by the looks of it a similiar volume 3 again with a change of design.
To complicate matters even more when the LP's appear not just across the pond but all over the world the covers and volumes switch around and track lists change dramatically - I think this would cause a serious headache for completists. I cannot seem to find an image for the US #2 .

“Lost” Al Jarreau live recording to be released

In the pantheon of Jazz singers, Al Jarreau stood as a beaming giant of talent, inspiration, and crossover capability. The beloved platinum seller, known the world over for his hits “We’re in This Love Together,” “Mornin,” and theme from the TV series “Moonlighting,” started along his path of music crafting an inebriating blend of Jazz standards with Pop hits of the day.

WOW! a recently unearthed live radio recording discovered by Grammy®-nominated producer Zev Feldman – “The Jazz Detective” – is a 10-song treasure. Releasing as a limited-edition 2-LP set on November 29 as part of Record Store Day’s Black Friday Event, and as a deluxe CD and Digital Download on December 6, 2024, on Resonance Records, it captures a still-developing Jarreau captivating an audience on a hot August Saturday night in Washington, D.C. at the city’s intimate, historic, and cherished Childe Harold Club. Backed by a trio led by longtime collaborator Tom Canning on keyboards, Jarreau fervently and purposefully proves in this pristine recording why it was only going to be two more years before he catapulted to international superstardom.
