A Cellarful Of Motown Vol 5

FINALLY ten years on from the last volume and coming in the first two weeks of September the much awaited latest volume of Cellarful Of Motown. I make no excuses for the fact that unusually it has tracks that have been released previously. Most of these have appeared in downloads or on other compilations but luckily in most of those cases I am bringing you new mixes. This is being released by Caroline Records part of the Universal Group and all I can ask (for it is looking unlikely) that if you want to see more releases like this that you support it and if possible drop the record company a line telling them how much you appreciate it - I should be able to supply a track list later this morning.Attachment 18038

'producer' Barry Gordy was a final Jeopardy answer

most people who know who Berry Gordy Jr. is do not think of him as a producer; he is known for being the founder/ CEO of the earliest, most successful black owned label in America.. it should be thrown out as factually incorrect.. yes, one person wrote "Barry" and was disqualified; the question should have been disqualified because most who know him know him as CEO/ label czar, not as a producer

First Female 'Getting Real' Rap About It Record??

I think you know what I mean, the Millie Jackson , Betty Wright kind of stuff being released in the seventies. Is there a term for this type of record? I defer to anyone who wants to give the genre its proper title ....

Anyway, fifty years ago this one made the Top Forty in the summer of 1970:
MAYBE Three Degrees

Is it the first ???

I've been evil as a wet hen ever sense ....lol!

Roy C has passed

So very sorry to learn Roy C has passed. Whilst some may only be aware of Shotgun Wedding, Roy C had a long successful career and delivered both recordings and performances throughout his long career.
We should recognise the wonderful artists and composers who were fundamental in the creation and development of soul music, they have no successors..... Roy C, George Jackson, Luther Ingram, Jerry William's aka Swamp Dogg, Sam Dees, etc, they are priceless
