July 1965: What if? Just thinkin'

Two songs, with more than a few similarities, were released in July, 1965:
“Danger Heartbreak Dead Ahead” by the Marvelettes and “You’ve Been In Love Too Long” by Martha & The Vandellas. Both were written by Hunter, Paul and Stevenson and produced by them. Both have somber themes. Both of them did pretty well on Billboard R&B (#11 and #25, respectively) but less so on Billboard Pop (#61 and #36). What if the artists had been switched with each doing the other’s song? Do you think their chartings would have been significantly different? I’ve always thought they were great recordings which should have done much better than they did.

Aretha questions.

The first post disappeared due to a site malfunction but I wanted to continue questions and comments regarding Aretha. I was behind discovering this but I recently got Aretha and The Philharmonic Orchestra. That production is just brilliant! I was hoping for more of her hits but the 14 tracks they did are just, what shall I say.....majestic! What a unique concept and it left me wanting more. I'm sure Aretha got to hear this as it was released in Nov. 2017 I believe. I have to wonder what she thought of it. This is a keeper. I also saw they did one on the Beach Boys and Roy Orbison. Nothing can compare really of the original recordings but this certainly comes close. Beautifully done.

Tuesday Night AGT Finals-Did I Catch a Missed Lyric?

I am sure we have some fans on here and Wednesday night the winner will be announced live. For those of you who have watched, you are aware that the guy who sang last tonight, Michael Ketterer, has been Simon's pick all season, but it seems to be more about his character as a foster father than about his talent.

Tonight he did "Ain't No Mountain High Enough," and I thought I caught a flub in the lyric. Unfortunately I did not tape it so I can't go back and check, but on the first chorus I thought he sang "Ain't No Mountain High Enough, Ain't No River Low Enough," (instead of valley,) and then went on to correctly sing the third line as "Ain't No River Wide Enough."

Did anyone else catch that or does anyone have it on tape so that you could double check it? Whether or not he sang it correctly, I still think he will win, although I thought the comedienne Vicki was just amazing tonight. But heck, let's face it, all ten acts were pretty darn good!
