It's being reported that Lamont Dozier has passed ... awful if true ...

After reading DW Sheffer's posting on the Contours [great discovery] I noticed that the L A Times had another article featuring seven great Lamont Dozier songs. I thought others would enjoy reading it and listening to them.

I was totally unaware that he had composed anything for Dionne Warwick. Give it a listen.

Legendary Soul Vocalist William Bell will release his first new music since 2016's Grammy Award winning album This Is Where I Live.
The lead single entitled "One Day Closer To Home" will be released near the end of August 2022 followed by a full length album in September, both on the Wilbe Records imprint.
The song, which serves as the title track for the album, is about true freedom and going home in every sense of the word. It's a "back to basics" formula musically with great lyrics, melody and ultimately a superb vocal performance by Bell. Lionel was featured on a segment on this morning's CBS Morning News at 9 AM today. It was a brief recap of his entire career as well as segments of some of his various songs that he sang.

The moderator told him it's been 13 years since he has had a new album and when will there be a new one? Lionel stated by the end of this year. So we have something to look forward to.

Lionel never seems to get much attention on the Motown Forum. A shame as he is a great Motown artist and has a rich history.
