BANG, YOU'RE DEAD Written By Simpson and Ashford Performed By Bette Midler

Just stumbled upon it. Would never have thought it a song written by them.

Is Bette's the only version of this song ?

Happy birthday soulful detroit

Hard to believe another year has passed and we are now twenty years old. Hard to believe all those years have passed and we just keep growing. I would like to thank all the members who have participated and contributed to this forum, making it a place of interest in all things relating to music, and more. Without you this place could not exist. Big props for Brother Lowell for keeping the lights on and dealing with the various technicalities that occur from time to time. Time for a new year and new members and conversations. Once again, thanks to all of you. This place is most definitely as good as its members.

Singles Not on ‘Regular’ Albums

As I was listening to the Four Tops “You Keep Running Away,” I was reminded that this is a single that was not on a regular album. By ‘regular’ I mean an album that usually showcased a group or artists’ latest single[[s) along with otheer album fillers. Yes, I am aware that it may have appeared on some other compilation like a greatest hits album, etc. Offhand, I can only think of two other singles that were not on a regular album: Supremes’ “The Happening and the Ross/Richie pairing of “Endless Love.” I especially don’t understand why Running Away or The Happening did not make it on a regular album. I am sere there are other examples.

Motown Song Titles which have Changed

Over the years, a couple of Motown's song titles have been changed. Songs that were released under one name and were later changed by adding a few words to the title. This usually happens due to avoid confusion with another song with a similar name. Here's three examples:

The Temptations' "Dream Come True" became "[You're My] Dream Come True"
Martha & The Vandellas' "Heat Wave" became "[Love Is Like A] Heat Wave"
The Supremes' "Always In My Heart" became "You're Gone [But Always In My Heart]"

Any other example of this in the Motown catalog?
