Let's Share Some of Our Special Motown Collectables

Hi Friends,

I posted yesterday a photo of an autographed Mary Wells LP that I found in my collection.

Since we're all on a kind of hiatus, I thought it might be fun if we used a thread to share some of our favorite Motown collectables. Before the holidays, my buddy Gary (philles/motown_Gary) posted his Spector LP collection which was fun to view.

Perhaps you have something in your collection you'd like to share with SDF. This is a good time if you do.

Thanks!

Kenneth

Calling All Dionne Aficionados

All right, you Dionne-ocologists, riddle me this: Who are the background vocal personnel on the Soulful album? Is it The Sweets and/or others? This has been puzzling me all day.

Are there any Motown Covers of Stax songs?

I know that Stax covered Motown songs (so did everyone and their brother)

https://www.amazon.com/Soulsville-Si...ds=stax+motown

But did Motown artists ever return the favor?

If so I can't think of any off hand

And if not, what Stax songs would you have loved to hear a Motown version of? and by who?

Marvin singing "I've been loving you too long"?

The Funk Brothers doing Green Onions or Time is Tight?

The Four Tops singing Who's Making Love?

The Supremes version of B-A-B-Y?

This x-rated intro version of The Manhattans KISS AND SAY GOODBYE- Authentic?

I 'm a big Bobby Martin fan and when first finding this never wanted to believe he would disrespect his own work in this way ..... Still this version posted since 2012 , claiming to be a promo from 1976, remains on youtube unchallenged. A couple of comments there imply owning or at least remembering it ....

Anybody have any information regarding this ????

Gino Parks and Barrett Strong - Tell All Your Friends

Posted this elsewhere but truly it belongs on this forum. I've been enjoying this track more and more recently and it appears on the Barrett Strong Complete Motown Collection CD.

DFTMC lists it as a duet - Gino Parks and Barrett Strong so it's a rarity and one of 10 unreleased tracks on that Barrett Strong CD.

Here's the song ....
