I dont know about that CoolJu but the brother certainly was funked up about losing his lady...sitting in his lonely room, ruminating about how he and his lady were all through, like the brother Paul said "no sense in me denying, ever since you been gone I've been crying"......man I love that song......"how could a woman that I treated so good, just do me so wrong"....... Kdubya PS: when that song came out I was a freshman in high school and I would play it every morning on our wrecka player before heading off to the land of higher education......always hoping that I would never experience what Paul was singing about.....well............. oh yeah their harmony was tight as hell..... When I was a freshman in HS and throughout HS I played that album and the 1st two Tempts albums to get hyped in the morning. "I've Been Good To You" was my jam, too. Those lyrics are the bomb, too, as you noted. |

Funny, this was one of the few songs where the drums kind of irritated me...i remember thinking that those drums are just too "busy", guess i was just looking for the "pocket", and the drums weren't helping......still great Paul Williams work....lotta emotion, |

JohnE, And Melvin's voice is probably blocking out your beloved bassline also. Great call Cool Ju, this was one of my fave Tempt album cuts and I liked the way Kb broke it down. Kb, "Slow Down heart Paradise (Eddie never sang like this again ) Dream Come True (Eddie's doo wop)" Those 3 were my some of my girl's faves from a short list of Tempt songs that I used to introduce them to their early work....so how could you leave off my 5 year old's fave Tempt workout? Isn't She Pretty. As the family bass singer, that song gives her quite a workout. |

Destruction, I try not to monopolize or over emphasize my limited knowledge of the Tempts, in fact I love to see what other people think of some of there recordings. Melvin's (Blue) work on Isnt She pretty is phenomenal and Eddie was up there on another planet. No one and I mean no one has ever sang with the passion and fervor of these guys. They made what they accomplished seem easy....now to continue.......... Your Not an ordinary Girl It's Growing What Love Has Joined Together Not now I'll tell you later You Can Depend on Me Who's Lovin You (David .....dam !) Nobody but my baby (Pauls trademark angst/harmony for days) back in the day these guys were so good it was unsettling , they set the bar so high that in the future they would have trouble out doing themselves, for instance David was Da man (see Cindy, Could Never Love Another & Rain)......no question but some of my favorite Tempt songs were done with Eddie, Paul & Melvin featured prominently........and (ahem) after you finish listening to their early released hits.... Girls Allright w/Me, Girl Why You Wanna Make me Blue, The Way You do the things you Do....then you slide over to some of the songs we have listed on this thread and it becomes clear that these guys were indeed our version of the Beatles......that last line was not mine but a quote from Darryl Hall of Hall & Oates.....smile for me now........ Cool Ju - This thread has opened up the thread of the Ultimate Temptations. Everytime one of those songs came out on this group called The Temptations, you would think they couldn't get any better. We loved everyone of those songs. There is no comparison of these exellent songs, and these talented young men of Detroit. How can you not be proud of this particular group, and the recording company who produced them. |
