Thanx 2 my late, great pops-who back in the day was known thoughout the sandhills area as "Billy Gee" the dj at WYRU-AM from '73-'77, I have a vast collection of LPs from the radio station he called home during the "golden years" of broadcasting. Djs back then had "promotional copy" or "dj only" copies of albums that were sent by the labels to debut cuts of the albums for airplay, as per "suggested cuts for airplay" stickers listed on the albums. One of the two I'm familiar with are from then-CBS (the other from Atlantic); one of CBS' associated labels of which I'm referring to is of course, Philadelphia International, and the classic 1977 release from Lou Rawls: "Unmistakably Lou" with the fave "See You When I Git There" included on the album. The question I have about the album is this: Are there two different covers of the album released, or just one? The cover I have is Lou facing the camera at waist level and his name/album title across the top in bold letters. By fate one day, I was watching Music Choice classic r&b, and the song came on, but I saw a different cover of the same album, with Lou shown full body with the name/title in cursive-type print on the upper-right hand side, but still wearing the same blue (what looks like a combination polyester/suede) suit with a white scarf around his neck. Are there really two covers and why, or I'm just seeing things? Be back Monday for a response from y'all. |

Hello Submarine! Hi, Bigdaddy, I got the spanish CBS-PIR edition of this LP with Lou Rawls in the cover dressed blue and his name and title in caligraphic style, also in blue. I can't scan because my scanner is Din A-4. In the backcover appears the credits in spanish (this was usual until the first 80's) and a photo of Lou, only the head. I likes a lot this album, especially "Early Morning Love", voice and the bass. Also "Some Day You'll Be Old". When i buy, in my teens I was obssesed with "See You When I get There" and "Spring Again". Peace! |

Who sang back-up on You'll Never Find?--almost like a duet with Lou and the ladies. |

I have the album that shows the full length Lou. Can't help you with the fact that there appears to be two album covers, but what is interesting is that there are almost certainly two versions of the track "See You When I Get There". On the original album I have, Lou speaks over the intro of the track, saying "Pardon me, do you have change of a" etc. I also have this on a compilation cd of some Lou's phiily hits, and it's on this, that you get the version of "See You When I Get There" without the talk over at the begining, and it sounds very odd. Has anybody else found this ?. |

I have the original UK version of the album and it has no scarf...but the same suede shirt. The pic is cut off just above the knees! The track has the spoken intro. |
