pleased to announce that music guru davie gordon will be donating his discography database to soulfuldetroit.
we hope to be able to provide a facility for additions/corrections.
one thing's for sure, it will ongoing!!

I think we need something like this but can we be very careful about corrections. There are some very strange rumours about obscure B sides on TMG which are not true.
Will you be including all Detroit labels besides Motown? And I think that we need a bit more than just label, artist and song title. We need to allocate space for the producer, engineers and little trivia facts. The sort of thing I am thinking about is for noting where similar backing tracks were used eg Parliaments "Love Is Creeping Up On Me" and Debonaires or the same....Tammi's Gotta Find A Way and Jimmy's He Who Picks A Rose...or even leads not expected like for example Ann Bogan on "Like a Nightmare"
David , it definitely has to be on-going. And at least it will be still around when we are all upstairs in that Detroit heaven!!

i haven't seen davie's dateabase, but do know there are over 100,000 entries in it - albeit from across the states.
so it will probably take a while to thin it out.
as for additions/corrections, they could go into a sort of holding account - until approved by a panel! just developing policy as i go along!
fair comment, thanks john.

Wonderful, this will certainly help in my expedition to find great Detroit records.
