i've come across this label which is addressed at
15301 livernois (the tera shirma block).
even more intriguing ralph. or maybe just another merlino venture?

David,
If Studio A's address was 15305 I have to wonder if the location of this company was the site of the Household Finance company that was on the corner of Fenkell and Livernois. Can you detrmine any date on the record? I'm fairly certain it had nothing to do with Merlino.

I'lll have to check this one but - off the top of
my head - wasn't Do De Re one of Gino Washington's labels ?

I've this single listed but haven't actually seen a copy
Do De Re 358 GINO WASHINGTON
GINO IS A COWARD / I'LL BE AROUND - inst.
The vocal to "I'll Be Around" appeared on Mala
12029 in early '69 - as with most Amy/Mala/Bell
releases it was probably recorded independently
and leased to A/M/B for national distribution.
I suspect "Gino" is a re-make of the Son-bert
track - if it is the Son-Bert track that would make the Do De Re release the fourth label it
appeared on

I have a copy of the Gino Washington record on Do De Re (or is it Do Re De?) :
WC 358 Gino Is A Coward/Like My Baby (Instr.)
Also I have seen listed on the same label :
Like My Baby/I'll Be Around (When You Want Me)
Like My Baby/Like My Baby(Instr.)
The label is coloured red (upper half) and white but there is no address.
'Gino Is A Coward' is the same version and seems to appear on Correc-Tone, Sonbert, Do De Re and WMC! 'Like My Baby' seems to be on Atac, Do De Re and Mala. Phew!

ron murphy sold much of his record collection some time ago.
he did however photograph the discs he sold and it is from that album that i have picked up the address.
i don't know which release it was however. perhaps davie has thrown a spanner in the works mentioning gino. it may be nothing to do with him.
anyway ian, thanks for that and welcome to the forum!

well here's the do de re record.

Thanks for creating the forum! And for the fantastic Web site - unbelievable!
The label scan is very similar to my copy except for 'DO' and 'DE' which are further apart, on either side of the 'RE'. The run-out groove has 'Nashville Matris' and 'music city' stamped.
From reading Rod Dearlove's and Graham Anthony's Detroit listing mags, I have Gino Washington as owner of the label.

yes gino was very much his own man.
i'm annoyed at my notes however. i'm usually pretty careful and it definitely says 'do de re'
15301 livernois.
as if this wasn't difficult enough!

I'm sure you're right! I just made a guess when I originally saw the label!
