Am I to assume the "D" is Dale Warren?
Who is "R"?
Whilst I'm at it, has anyone got any info on the Autocap label?

Hi Dave
Autocap seems to be a Lando subsidiary
D & R Productions don't ring any bells - what
were they involved in ?

Flynny - I picked up a copy of Roy Major on Autocap the other day here in Detroit.
It says on the label...A Division of Lando Record Co. Both sides were arranged by Dale Warren. I forget the name of the guy who owned Lando... but think it was something like Richardson...wasn't his name is on the Carl Carlton Golden World 45 (B side).

I too have a Roy Major...in front of me!
I've been told there's also a Herman Griffin or George disc on the label too, but was after the details.
I'm sure I've seen "D&R Prod" on some other labels...(scratching head)

Dale Warren did many of the string and horn arrangments for many the STAX acts who worked in Detroit, among numerous others. He also did some industrial film writing here too. A very talented man! Someone once told me he was related to Berry Gordy in some way also.

Ed,
Dale Warren is the nephew of Raynoma Singleton,
Berry's second wife - she was at Motown up to
1964 and is usually known as "Miss Ray".

Wasnt Dale Warren also featured on the East Coast Shrine record Label?MEL.

Yes, Dale Warren was very much involved in the Shrine productions.
Interesting note: according to one of the Shrine articles in Shades of Soul, Dale has been involved in over 5,000 recordings in various capacities (producer, musician, arranger).
Best,
Mark

Mark,
That sounds like a hype figure to me - like the
Andantes being on 20000 tracks during the sixties.
