Tomorrow night in the U.K. the Biography Channel has a Soul train evening.

The subject of three one hour long documentaries are Dionne Warwick, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder.

I recently watched the Burt Bacharach documentary and was pleasantly surprised when Luther Dixon's image popped up on the screen.

the others run from 8 thru 11.

All programmes are repeated on Monday during the day. QJ is on Monday 11am and 5pm.

The latest is:

out the four programmes, the Stevie Wonder and Quincy Jones are UK produced. The other two are from the US. I have been informed by the Biography Channel, here where I work, that although they are on the air Sunday evening in the UK, the US will have Dionne Warwick and Marvin Gaye on at some time, or may have even been on the air already. US viewers to check their television listings. It is not certain whether the States have 'bought' the other two and whether they are planning airing them there.I can announce that in November there is a full month of music programmes with many musicians featured. There will be a soul week, jazz and the like, here in the UK. The programming is not available yet, but will be mid September. I will try and get a flyer from the office when I can.

The quality of people interviewed was quite amazing.

For music fans, November, in the UK promises to be of interest courtesy of The Biography Channel. The following are scheduled for airing from 2/11/2002 to the end of the month:

Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davies, Herbie Hancock, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, Paul McCartney, Cat Stevens, Buddy Holly.

The series is called 'Good Vibrations'. I am certainly tempted for a few of them, I must say.

Too true - I am convinced with all these channels that we can expect some great footage in the future! Somebody has to make it first though. With the right financial backing I am sure there is reasonable potential for many programmes to be made. Imagine a series that would target a particular song and examine its creation from rehearsal to production to 'hit', showing photos and archive footage where available. The Casualeers track would certainly qualify! Who would have thought Meco Monardo did the orchestration. You could finish the programme by showing its popularity today on the Northern scene, here in the UK. Quick, where's my video camera?
