Excuse my ignorance but I didn't know that Hank was involved in some serious Funk on the People label.
"From the love side" by Hank Ballard 1972.
JB on organ and rapping in the background. Funk Heaven.
Do we ever mention the drummers on the People label?
David digs all Soul from the era. BTW.

Who are the drummers David???

Clyde Stubblefield/Melvin Parker/John "Jobo" Starks/John Morgan.
Bass Bootsy/Fred Thomas.
Maybe I'm in the mood for this tonight but the music is awesome to these ears.
CD James Brown's Funky People (pt2)
Now listening to "Cross the tracks"....unbelievable...Maceo & the Macks.
Ludicrous to say this but .....we all know what James Brown has done for/to us.
David (not in Augusta,GA), sadly.

James doesn't live in Augusta David, he crossed the state line & the river years ago, but his office is still in Augusta. Just so you won't go looking in the wrong place (smile).

Thanks for that.
You know one of my greatest regrets was after visiting Augusta GA, in 1980 to see the Masters Golf Tournament.
I was into things like Shalimar's "Second time around" then.
Hey, I still like that.
I didn't know about JB's link then or TK in Miami.

when I was growing up Hank Ballard and the Mid Nighters, were my Idols, when we would sing on the corners, here in Philly, we always sang a Hank Ballard song, that was real funk from the south,

"From the Love Side" is the same basic instrumental track as "I Made A Mistake" by Marva Whitney.Hank Ballard had some other funky James Brown Produced 45's in the late 60's early 70's on King "How You Gonna Get Respect" and "Blackinized" all have since come out on the CD's "James Browns Funky People" except for "Blackenized"
