Tuesday Night England
Hi Bobbi
Remember at the weekend I asked You about being involved with THE DELFONICS and their pure soul sound, I only just notcied I put the Dramatics, when I meant of course the Delfonics and such tracks as "Ready or Not here I come" - which is my fave track, they are the ONLY Group of my Faves or Artist I never got to see Live.
What are the Hart Brothers like? did You work on any of their tracks?
Yes Bobbi when I nexdt visit Philly, please guide me to Sigma, it will be worth lunch! haha
John

Hi John,
The Delfonics in their original form have been friends of mine since day one.
My session work with them started in 1969 commencing with the session that brought us Ready or not and Didnt I.
I would played on the earlier stuff too but I was on the road a lot at the time.
Thom and I go back to our high school days.
I always enjoyed the Philly Groove sessions and the Delfonics music really held a special place in my heart.

Thanks Bobbi!! - my eyes where "lighting" up like a young kid on Christmas Day reading your reply, I have just managed to get a copy of the Gold Audophille Legends of THE DELFONICS from a store in Switzerland?? can't wait to add it to my collection.
I could listen and read all day and night long to all the memories and experiences that You bring to us.
How can we ever say THANKS enough!
John

At present a lot of UK 70's soul fans are chasing the groups late 70's Arista 45 but it seems to be a hard item to find.
I always thought I had it on a Jamacian issue but have been unable to find it if I have (my 45's are all over the place & in no particular order).
It is easier to find some soul stuff on its Caribbean issue (Jamaica & Barbados) than on original US. This applies in particular to US labels that were going thru their deaththroes. Lots of late Hi items came out in more quantity in the Carib than back in the US.
Bobbi, were you involved with the Delphonics late 70's sessions (77/78 I believe)??

Bobby,
Do you remember how the Delfonics came to record
"When You Get Right Down To It" ?
It's possibly the only time, other than make weight album tracks, that the group cut a song that wasn't written by Willam Hart - was there
any particular reason for them cutting it other than it's a good song which they sang immaculately ?
Thanks, Davie

Not Delphonics related but an associated question for Philly Soul Mastermind Bobby.....
Can you remember a 12" release on Philly Groove from Flashlight (distributed by Salsoul so it was a late item from the label). It's titled "Beware She's Pulling My Strings" and its very much in the same vein as the Futures "Party Time Man" (a big track with UK NS fans at present).
Do you know anything about the group at all (Flashlight)??

Davie,
Thom and William loved the Ronnie Dyson version so they decided to do a version on that album.
J.S.,
There was no "Flashlight " group .
It was a studio concoction.

Thanks Bobby - y'know I can't even remember Ronnie
Dyson's version - it'll have to be some job to
equal the Delfonics.

Skip :
Ive gotta listen to the Ronie version but if my memory serves me right it was something that I conjured up using my Echoplex and muted strings similar to the beginning of Who am I by the O'jays.
