THE BIG "D" WAS INDEED FROM DETROIT...A FORMER UNIVERSITY OF DETROIT TITAN!!!...IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING THE MISSING LINK TO THE NEW YORK KNICKS CHAMPIONSHIP SEASONS...DAVE DEBUSSCHRE...AT AGE 24 WAS NAMED PLAYER-COACH OF THE PISTONS BY THE LATE FRED ZOLLNER!!!...IT'S SAID THAT HIS JAW DROPPED INTO THE BUTTER ON HIS TOAST WHEN ZOLLNER OFFERED HIM THE JOB!!!...GREAT UPSTANDING GUY...WILL BE MISSED BY THE ENTIRE SPORTING COMMUNITY!!!...STUBASS

A man who made history...one of the first two-sport athletes (he played pro baseball before his storied basketball career), the first player/coach in NBA history, star of two World Champion NBA teams ('70 and '73), Hall of Famer...
KevGo is right when he says that the Knicks could use DeBusschere now...my feeling is that the entire LEAGUE could use more players with the talent and class of DeBusschere! (emphasis on the word 'class')

I played ball with Dave's nephew Mark DeBusschere at Southfield High. Mark was a smooooooth guard.
