Correction on Helen Reddy: she did have a decent-sized hit before "I Am Woman" with her rendition of "I Don't Know How to Love Him" from "Jesus Christ, Superstar" (though she actually split a hit on that one with the competing version from Yvonne Elliman).
In defense of Stella Parton--I thought her songs were fantastic! I remember hearing them on country radio when they came out. Of course, Dolly is the more musically talented sister, but I always dug Stella's music.

HEY MARK: STELLA WAS A GENUINE "SWEETHEART...BUT AS YOU STATED...CERTAINLY NO DOLLY...AT LEAST MUSICALLY (AND I GUESS FROM A PHYSICAL POINT OF VEW AS WELL)!!!...QUITE FRANKLY THOUGH...WHILE I HAD A VERY NICE DINNER WITH HER...AN SHE CAME AND VISITED THE NEXT DAY AT THE STATION...I CAN'T SAY THAT I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH HER SHOW THAT I SAW AT THE TOP HAT...AT LEAST FROM A PERFORMING POINT OF VIEW...AND I REALLY WASN'T ALL TOO FAMILIAR WITH ANY OF HER RECORDINGS..SO I REALLY CAN'T COMMENT ON THOSE...AND WILL TAKE YOUR WORD FOR IT THAT SHE DID SOME QUALITY RECORDING WORK!!!...REGARDS...STU
