I found this precious gem of a song on the recent Ace/Kent collection "Where The Girls Are Vol. 5". This single from the Chicago-based Little Foxes was produced by Motor City legend Mike Terry (who also co-wrote the song). It's mellow tempo does have an undercurrent of Detroit soul.
"Love Was Made To Order" was released on Okeh Records in 1968. Does anyone have any info on what studio Mike used to cut this single & who were the session players (if any of the Funks played on this tune I wouldn't be surprised).
Regards,

Kev,
It had to be Tera Shirma, as that was the year that I worked with Mike there and he rave about it beforehand.

I believe there was a passage about the Little Foxes (who had there name changed for that release; I can't remember what they were called before- they were obviously a Chicago group though) in Robert Pruter's Chicago Doo-Wop book. He actually refers to both sides of the Okeh single as very weak! I respect Robert Pruter alot, but I'd have to disagree and side with Kev. "Love Made To Order" is an absolute gem.

Mel,
The Versatiles on Bronco are the group which became the 5th Dimension.
Offhand I can't remember anything about the group on Staff but I doubt there's any connection.

Thanks to all for the info regarding the Little Foxes. I agree with Yan - Robert Pruter (who I know very well) is a more die-hard "Chicago" soul fan than Detroit so his opinion doesn't matter much to me. I would love to see the Little Foxes photo (Mel - you can email it to KGoins3@excite.com, which is more picture-friendly than my other email address). Bobby Eli may have a point about Terra Shirma since CBS Records had an on-going relationship with the studio (Hey, Ralph - maybe you may know this tune!)and that is where Mike Terry did a bulk of his work.
Thanks again, gang!
