I think HW says there is unreleased "Live" duet of Brenda with Marvin Gaye.I know she took Tammi's place at a few concerts when Tammi was too ill.

I don't remember any duets at Motown, only a duet at Motorcity with Jimmy Ruffin called "On the Rebound". It was pretty well done.

The Only other Duets Brenda did,as far as I know of were
'Its you'with Hal Davis on the Minasa Record Label(no.6714)
and with Jess Harris on Brevit Records(no.641)called 'I Never knew you Looked'.
Can anyone please confirm this please.
With Thanks
mel.

I have 3 Brenda Holloway duets in my collection.
They are:
Bonnie and Clyde: I Got A Feeling / I Want A Boyfriend. In Sound 405.

Hal and Brenda: It's You / Unless I Have You.
Snap and Minasa 415.

Brenda Holloway and Jess Harris: Gonna Make You Mine / I Never Knew You Looked So Good (Until I Quit You). Brevit 641.

When Brenda was over here in England a couple of years ago, her face lit up when I showed her my 45s as she hadn't seen these records for many years. She didn't then have them herself. She laughed out loud when she read the title of the b side of that last record mentioned and commented on the foolishness of youth when she wrote it. Foolishness of youth - I seem to know a lot about that!!

Hope this is of some help.
David.

Thanks Motown David,
I also got to see her at an all-nighter with Kim Weston, but for some unknown reason they had to sing live to back up tapes or instrumentals on 45s.
So,although there vocals were second to none, yet another rip-off as all it was really, was a bloody Kareoke night.

Anyway,appreciate the info.
Mel.

Mel, Brendas coming back at the end of May, to the Ritz in Manchester but this time Snake Davis and the Suspicions will be backing her, I know what you mean about back-up tapes

I have to agree that there was an element of karaoke to that show in Manchester but then, since Kim and Brenda were singing along to the original Motown backing tracks, I really didn't mind.
Brenda's comment was that her voice has got lower over the years and some of the backing tracks are now a little high for her!

There is a duet of Come Into My Palace by Brenda and Patrice Holloway.

This is just one more Motown secret from the 60's that still hasn't come to light....yet!
