Favorite Spring for me would be "Ask Me What You Want"by Millie Jackson...I thought she was a good singer and didn't need to get quite so vulgar.

Hello guys,

Joe Simon's "Drowning In the Sea Of Love":

"I've been down one time
And I've been down two times
But now I'm drowning
Drowning in the sea of love...."

And don't forget Millie's "How Do You Feel (The Morning After)! Whew! Smokin! :oD

Peace!

Never forget Millie Jackson's dancer on Spring called 'My man is a sweet man'.
When I first heard it in 1972ish and it was big on the all-nighter scene at the time.
I know of a few on the Event record Label but cant think of them at this moment in time.
I have a Live tape recorded at the Top Rank in Hanley all-Dayer from 72 with Millie Jackson on one side and blowing everyone away with my man etc, although I heard in later years that she couldnt stand the record.Dont know how true that is?
And on the other side of the tape,
the one and only
OSCAR TONEY JNR.

I'm not familiar with the Event label, but my favorite Spring artist is definitely Millie Jackson. I was a fan of hers way before she got dirty. Songs like ASK ME WHAT YOU WANT and IT HURTS SO GOOD can't be beat. And her "rap" albums like CAUGHT UP and FEELIN' BITCHY were good as well. I don't think she made a bad album between 1973 and 1979. But after that, the albums became spotty. The raps lost their edge, and the songs weren't the greatest, either.

The Event label had great hits such as:

1)Are You Ready To Do The Bus Stop- Fatback Band
2)Yum Yum Gimme Some - Fatback Band
3)Pepper Box- The Peppers
4)Spanish Hustle - Fatback Band

Those are just a few sides from the label.

We played on drowning in the sea of love, Pool of bad luck, power of love and two albums.

One of my favorite spring records is the one that I did on Busta Jones which was the remake of Just a little misunderstanding which was a song that I have been clammoring to remake on the right person and I almost did a female version with Jackie Moore.

Bobby;
I listened to the Busta Jones lp recently for the first time in years. I would have loved to hear Jackie Moore do "..Misunderstanding."
In addition to Bernie Worrell , there are a couple more obscure P-Funk affiliates on there ; Tyrone Lampkin and Nairobi Sailcat. Did they work on the tracks you produced or were they from the albums' other sessions?
