Lynn, what's up with those Lions? They just can't seem to get on track. They got close in the early 90's but since then have made it to the .500 mark maybe 2 or 3 times.I'm not in Detroit anymore but still a fan-it must be hard for the fans there.I look forward to them turning things around.I think there going to have to clean house with their coaching staff first-then strengthen their secondary.

Friday, I thought we had Tampa today for sure the way things were going when tied them, just from the way they were finally getting an attitude. But you know the rest!! SHIT!!

GO REDWINGS

It could be worse--you guys could've tanked it the way the Browns did!

Up 16-0 at halftime and they wind up losing it, 28-23!

If I ever go to another game, I'm wearing a bag over my head!!! ;)

Best,

Mark

I think some of the Lions once recorded a 45 - "Cry Out Freedom" / "Grapes Of Wrath."
Has anyone got a copy of this 45, or know about it?

GREETINGS ALL: AS I RECALL, BEFORE I MOVED ON TO THE SUNNIER PASTURES OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, THE LIONS HAD A THING GOING WITH "ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST" DURING THE EARLY 80''S. THEY ALSO HAD A THING GOING ABOUT THE SONG (FROM THE CARTOON) "SPIDER MAN"...IN REFERENCE TO FORMER LION DEFENSIVE BACK JIMMY "SPIDER" ALLEN, I BELIEVE TO BE HIS NAME. BASICALLY, AS I TRY TO REMAIN TRUE TO MY CHILDHOOD HERO'S...WHO THEN WENT ON TO BECOME THE "PONTIAC POLECATS"...I GUESS YOU HAVE TO BLAME OWNERSHIP (A SIN IN "FORD COUNTRY")...BUT THOSE OWNERS WHO REALLY WANT TO WIN, SOMEHOW FIND A WAY. IT TOOK THE PISTONS A LOT OF SCREWED UP YEARS. BUT FINALLY OWNERSHIP LET BASKETBALL PEOPLE RUN THE SHOW. SAME IS TRUE WITH ILLICH AND THE RED WINGS. PAY THE BUCKS FOR THE BEST, AND LET THE "PRO'S" RUN THE DEAL. I'M NOT READY TO ABANDON THE HONALULU BLUE & SILVER QUITE YET (ESPECIALLY SINCE WE DON'T EVEN HAVE A TEAM IN L.A.)!!!...BUT AS I BEGIN TO PROGRESS THROUGH MIDDLE AGE...MY PATIENCE IS BEGINNING TO WEAR A BIT THIN!!! GET WELL JOEY, AND BRING BACK CHARLIE SANDERS...THE ORIGINAL "FEARSOME FOURSOME", KARRAS, WILLIAMS, BROWN, AND MCCORD!!!BRING BACK CHARLIE SANDERS AND BARRY SANDERS...OR BILLY SIMS...OR EVEN NICK PETROSANTE. WE NEED HERMAN MOORE AND DALE COGDILL...AND JOE SCHMIDT CLOGGING UP THE MIDDLE, WITH LEM BARNEY ROAMING THE DEFENSIVE BACKFIELD!!!...MISSION ACCOMPLISHED...DETROIT LIONS...NFL CHAMPIONS!!!...LATER...STU

Perhaps one of you Lions fans knows something about a 45 made by (excuse spellings)...Dick Lebow, Joe Schmidt and someone named Bruce. It may have been released on the REM label. Does anyone have a copy of this 45?

Referring to my Celebrity Records Price Guide, the only Detroit Lions related record I could find is "Detroit Lions Sing Holiday Halftime" on the Manlius label. There is no mention as to who specifically sings on this record, but the date is given as 1972. Doubtful, given that date, that Dick LeBeau and Joe Schmidt were on that record.

Incidentally, Dick LeBeau is the coach of the only team with a worse record than the Lions, the Cincinnati Bengals.

Mark

DOES ANYONE REMEMBER THE DETROIT LIONS "FIGHT SONG" FROM THE 50'S AND 60'S???,...STARTED OUT..."CHARGING DOWN THE FIELD"...I THINK A TAKEOFF FROM "TOUCHDOWN USA". THE 8 PIECE BAND WOULD PLAY IT ON KICKOFFS AT HOME GAMES AT BRIGGS/TIGER STADIUM, AND VAN PARTICK PLAYED IT AS HIS THEME SONG ON HIS HIGHLIGHT/INTERVIEW SHOW!!!...STU

Interesting to note that shortly after I mentioned that LeBeau was coaching the Bengals, they fired him!

I don't think changing the coach is gonna help that team...and I'm not sure that Detroit keeping Mornhinweg around another year is gonna work out there.

Mark

The Lions have decided to retain the services of Coach Marty and team president Matt Millen(what services). We'll see what happens.Their going to be drafting high again,if that means anything.

Steve Mariucci can only improve your team! He did a great job over in SF and will hopefully do the same for the Lions.

*THAT* WOULD SURPRISE ME FRIDAY!!!...TWO YEARS OFF...I THINK IT TAKES MORE OUT OF YOU, THAN IT PRESERVES FOR YOU!!!...BUT YOU NEVER KNOW!!!...ONE MUST CONSIDER HOWEVER, THAT MARIUCCI WILL BRING A PASSING GAME TO MOTOWN...AND BARRY WOULD NOT BE THE CENTER OF ATTENTION, AS HE WAS IN THE PAST...BUT 25-MIL FOR "OL" STEVIE...GETS ME TO STAND UP AND TAKE NOTICE!!!...STTU

I just saw on the news that Berry is moving from the Detroit area to Florida so he can play more golf. So unless something changes his mind (like LOTS of money)I think we,ve seen the last of him in a football uniform.
I hope I'm wrong!!
