Hey, Wonder B have ya ever thought about starting your own magazine, my man. Yeah B, my memory is coming back to me now. Sophisticated Funk, Spunk, Yum Yum, Nice & Slow, Groove Grease, Most Requested Rhythm Band, Shot gun, Come Flick My Bic, Windy City, we're all great LP'S sound wise too. I never got a chance to spin the New Birth's 1st. Almost forgotten all about Honey & The Bees, I never got a chance to play it. I do remember seeing Ultra Funk in a few New & Used Stores (Here in Chicago). I don't recall seeing The Best Of Ohio Players or The Bar-Kays' Proposition(Maybe if you can enlighten me on LP'S songlist and record co's). I knew someone once that had Mary Wells's record, the photo is in good taste- not too plumb but very curvey. P.S. I'd like to know WB, what is the exact songlist for Mr. George's Fifth of Funk comp. I got GC's Family Series; A fifth Of Funk and GC: A Fifth Of Funk on CD. Both comp's are in the same exact song. I always thought these two we're all stared item's. |

Very good collection, Wonder B! I do't likes italian trumpeter Fausto Papetti, but all the jackets are very sexys. You know his jackets? The most "explicit sexy" i got is this by Cleveland Eaton. (I have more "subtil" sexy cover-arts) Peace, Soul Food & Sex } |

Hey Don, this album by ex Ramsey lewis trio Cleveland Eaton is very funky in the same spirit of Ramsey's "Don't Feel Good" and with some reminiscences of EW & F. Have very good acoustic bass and jazz-cello solos! Also have female chorus some orgasmic in "Flyin High"). Includes a song about your hometown "Chi-Town Theme" (This LP is in Miracle Records, 1979) |

Thanks for the scan Manny. I do have that album but the cover is not the same (less sexy LOL) Manny I have avoided the kind of LP's you mention (Papetti) because they have very little to do with Soul, Jazz or Funk, otherwise I could have posted some in that genre too. I avoided also the Various artists compilation which HAD to have a nude woman on the cover to sell back in the 70's... and I could of course have posted many Cerrone covers, or Ohio Player's... Soulaholic, thanks for that one... never seen it but it sure looks good LOL Don the Bar-Kays Propositions LP had the following tracklisting Propositions Tripping Out Anticipation (Busted) Do It (Let Me See You Shake) She Talks To Me With Her Body I Can't Believe You're Leaving Me You Made A Change In My Life You can see it here : http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obid os/ASIN/B00009028V/qid=1084660 103/sr=1-6/ref=sr_1_0_6/171-57 98153-0237868 Do It and Let Me See... were the two dance floor fillers... it was released in 1982 and recently reissued in a special series with 15 other albums like Con-Funk-Shun 7, Caroline Crawford Nice & Soulful, Roy Ayers A Tear To A Smile, Cameo Ugly Ego, Gap Band 1st Mercury LP, Bohannon Summertime Groove, Undisputed TruthFace To Face With The Truth, K& The Gang Something Special, Gloria Scott What Am I Gonna do, Southside Movement Moving South, Buddy Miles Them Changes, Love Unlimited In Heat, Mandrill Just Outside of Town, One Way Feat A.Hudson.... All remastered in 24bit 96kHz(great sound), new liner notes and digipack presentation with extra pics and original art cover size replica (both front & back cover) adapted for the CD size.. Great job indeed. I did lend some pics from my collection for the booklets. I don't have the track listing of the Ohio Players Best Of album with me right now though... And about the 5th of Funk album has been issued in different jackets over the world (but first issued in Japan -all the Japanese covers are absolutely gorgeous) but with the exact same track listing. All material in the series was taken from unissued 70's recorded material as far as I know. Wonder B If you mess with the 'fro, you gotta go! |

Wonder, Thanks for going through the trouble to show us these interesting album covers. As edgy as a couple of them may be, they still seem to maintain a certain level of class when compared to today's standards. |

Favourite: MARY WELLS' "Serving Up Some Soul" album cover was rather risque at the time, especially for a post-Motown girl. Plus, it's a real close-up of the hair and the face. And, leaves the rest to the imagination. The sultry look completes the very sexy effect. Moreover, this album cover is of the artist herself not someone's album with an erstwhile "model". Thus, IMO, runner up is: HONEY & THE BEES. Thanx for "serving up" the album covers!

Yes Ralph, as risqu as some of these are (except perhaps the Clinton one where they really 'stretched out' a bit LOL ) they are still way classier than what is offered today... Stonewall, Mary is just gorgeous on that cover... It's true that it was rare for stars to appear in such poses on their albums... Some could be little risqu depending on how you understood the pic... like Wardell Piper...
But it is the music that counts after all... Ask the General Caine :

Wonder B, During the time when Proposition was released, the only two records radio played here we're "Anticipation" and "She Talks To Me With Her Body". I never seen this cover before. I admit the cover was relax and reflective from ther covers. Wonder B, you never gave me a reply on George's songlist? |

THE MISSION BELLS.(AT BOTTOM OF PAGE)4our guitars and drums. The 38 longs, second from the left was the bass player but played a 6ix string, these chicks kould really kook on stage and kicked butt on "Reach Out" and "Flip Flop and Fly" All girl topless group who played at the DEARBORN TOWNHOUSE in 1967. Skin dont need to be the feature to be koncidered a sexy topic or picture. Some very kool album kovers above and klassy. These next picture sleeves are sexy to me and leave's the imagination to work. Hi Count, I somewhat do remember The Flirtations LP somewhat? From where I'm from if a house party dj or club we're to play Jamo Thomas would sure end up gettin' hurt bad. Don't get me wrong Edwin Starr's "Agent Double O Soul" was cool, but "I Spy" biz, Count you just don't know. |

Im looking at these and cant help but notice the fine line between art and pornography. We cannot complain about these young women doing it these days when their prototypes before them did 'it'. There is also a lot of exploitation of African American female 'skins' too... mixed emotions, DyvaNaye |
