What is this? I'm a little in the dark here, but I think I like the tone of it.

In the UK Sky TV are using the new Remix version of one of the Thom Bell sessions from around 1979, that Bobby played on. They are using it to promo their football season. 'Are you ready for love', the single, is due to be released early September. It was a great tune then and now, with the digitally enhanced video, it looks to top the charts here. Proving without doubt that TSOP lives and our theories are right about quality music.

Bobby can be seen quite clearly in a number of shots in both the old and new video. It is having extensive airplay on all music station on the TV at present and no doubt the radio stations up and down the country. Elton John stars in the Sky TV promo playing the piano and singing this number. I never thought I would associate TSOP with football, but the promo guys at Sky have done a handsome job with this and helped raise the profile of the track weeks ago.

Bobby - it is great to hear you on the radio, with all the stuff you have recorded, but, to see you on the television, unbelievable.

I think this is the X-Press remix of Are You Ready For Love?, 26 years on, Ralph. It's been a big dance hit this summer in Europe.

Forgive me - I'm a little puzzled. If the single is not released till next month, how is it already the fastest-selling single - or did I miss something here????

It was due for release early September on FatBoy Slims' record lable. I wonder if it has already been released? I do not follow the radio charts. I first knew about it when I saw Elton singing it on one of our channels, before I even realised it was on the music stations as a song video. I think there are a few facts missing as it is happening so quickly. I know many forums have been talking about the song and we play the loud at work when it comes on, along with the Kentucky commercials too!

Bobby - I guess this is the perfect time for a re cap on those sessions in Seattle! In the video are shots of people at a gig. I suppose this was Eltons gig in the city? How long were the sessions there, days or weeks?

That was really my dad in the video!!

But seriously folks, the EJ sessions were held at Kaye Smith studios in Seattle for 7 days in October of 1977.

One evening, the group presented EJ with a key to the city during a listening session/party at the studio and a news team was there and some of the fottage was edited and used in the video.

Now how about those royalties!!!!

I understand Bob Babbit and Andrew Smith were on that one as well!

Carl Dixon:
CBS-TV here in the United States used MFSB's version of "K-Jee" and their hit "Sexy" as "background music" for their sports programs during the 1970s & early 1980s.
