Kevin,
I am having lunch with StuBass at Dr. Hogly Wogly's Tyler Texas BBQ on Friday. This will be a wonderful opportunity to study the unique "All Caps Ardvark" in it's natural habitat!

Kevin,
Seeing your nice message made me think.
I find that I like you very much. I used to simply adore Popcorn Wylie in exactly the same way. There is something about the way you two fellows plow forward, doing your stuff in such a pure hearted manner, and in such an unselfish way, that thrills me.
I sent you a lecture about your questions. I hope that it is helpful. I want to be of service to you. You are a little bit of what I loved about Motown in the first two years.
Popcorn, Sammy Ward, Sammy Mack (Satintones,) George Fowler (the Gospal department,) and many other wonderful folks like Sonny Sanders and Robert Bateman, were the Motown that I loved.
At that time, Brian Holland and Lamont Dosier were what we called "hanger arounders." Eddie Holland was a singer like Marv Johnson, that Berry was trying to get a hit on.
Those were the good days for me. The days when Andre Williams was cutting tunes on Gino Parks.
I never understood what was going on until I purchased a 2CD John Lee Hooker album. Then I understood it all.
I have never forgiven Berry and HDH for putting the dollar ahead of art. Of course, being a whore, I delighted in the success at the time.
How can we express such things if we are going to be censored?

Mike:
Thank you for your post. I will respond to your email in detail later on over the weekend.
History has said much about Motown's glory days with H-D-H, Norman Whitfield & others at the production helm but not much if anything has been told about those early, formative years. You mentioned two people - Andre Williams & Sonny Sanders - who I have had the honor of meeting and working with. Andre & Sonny are my mentors in the music biz for they remind me to do what I love the best & the dollars will follow.
Thank you for sharing with me your experience with Motown's early days. I will contact you via email soon.
Regards,

Given his technical acumen, I have no doubt that Mike will figure out how to unstick the caps-lock on Stu's keyboard. Don't forget to take notes, Stu!
Regards,
Ken
