If they would be kind enough to drop three to the Mariners, I would truely appreciate it. Anybody want a used Freddie Garcia?

Doug,
It appears that the Tigers are pretty much a get well card for any team they play.

....CONTROVERCIAL TOPIC ALERT!!!!
Who has the best baseball song in your opinion. Michael Franks "Talking Baseball"?
"Van Lingo Mungo"?
"Dying Cub Fan's Last Request"?--Steve Goodman
"Take Me Out To The Ballgame"--Doc Watson? Or maybe Goodman's version with Jethro Burns on mandolin.

More distressed than this years Tigers?

....or the entire history of the St. Louis Browns?
Thank you, Tigers. M's 11, Tigers 4. We remain 3 ahead of Oakland. Appreciate the help.....

Top of pageBottom of page   By john c (12.2.233.107) on Wednesday, July 30, 2003 - 01:46 pm:

douglasm,

You an M's fan too? Hope the Tigers continue to help the M's break out of their slump. Maybe Alan can turn the Tigers around when they have a series with the A's. I saw the M's beat the Tigers last year on a McLemore suicide squeeze in the bottom of the 9th on my annual trip to Safeco.

John c.....
.....MY OH MY!!!! Nothing against the Tigers, mind you, but I'm glad they "traded" back Rick Rizz to the M's after Ernie Harwell un-retired a number of years ago. Or should I have said "....Goodby Basebal1".

douglasm,

I don't listen to M's on the radio, but Rizz came back right about the time I switched my lifelong allegiance to the Yankees to the M's (I had to commit when they played each other). But I rooted for the Tigers in '68 as a hometown boy picked up 3 wins in the Series.

Do you know of any other Pacific NW soul fans on the forum?

There's a couple out here (I wonder how Yan"s doing? We haven't heard from him in a while....) in as much as Jazz Alley came up in a discussion 3 or 4 months ago.
And thank you Detroit. I think it was 13-3 M's last night, wasn't it?

Top of pageBottom of page   By R&B (138.238.41.30) on Thursday, July 31, 2003 - 04:10 pm:

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE LEAST NUMBER OF WINS,BUT THE WASHINGTON SENATORS OF THE SIXTIES WERE PRETTY BAD[GIL HODGES GOT ONE GOOD SEASON OUT THEM AND SO DID TED WILLIAMS,BUT IN BETWEEN THEY WERE A STUDY IN FUTILITY,BUT I LOVED EM JUST THE SAME.

Top of pageBottom of page   By douglasm (68.113.13.31) on Thursday, July 31, 2003 - 04:59 pm:

Tigers are playing better.....
....only gave up 2 runs in the first this afternoon.
Ron Fairly, ex-Dodger, Expo, Met, you name it, and now Mariner broadcaster answered our question. Outside of the Cleveland Spiders in the late 1890's, the team with the worst won/loss record was the '62 Mets who went 40/120. And that was a 162 game season (two games called). With 55 games left in the year, the Tigers have to win 13. They can start tomorrow.

Top of pageBottom of page   By Ralph (209.240.198.62) on Thursday, July 31, 2003 - 05:11 pm:

Geez Doug, with those kind of remaining numbers I would say the Tigers have a shot of setting a new record.

Top of pageBottom of page   By Caleb (171.75.81.43) on Friday, August 01, 2003 - 02:27 pm:

4 games later from opening of this thread and still only 28 wins for the Tigers.Starting to feel 41 wins might be out of reach, hope not.

Top of pageBottom of page   By Caleb (171.75.81.63) on Thursday, August 21, 2003 - 02:30 am:

23 more games from top of thread and only 3 more wins.37 games left with 31 wins currently.Need 10 wins to avoid tying worst record in history.I don't know if there going to do it.
