I just received a note from Lowell. The change is coming soon. We will all need to register our screen names and then be assigned a pass-word. Non registered names can still post but their posts will be held in line electronically to be approved by the moderators. This more than likely will have no effect on the regulars here and may keep the occasional lunatic from getting on the forum. We will keep you posted when the change is imminent.

It had been a while since i registered, and i forgot the process. If it's similar to the Discuss Detroit forum (and it sounds like it), you're asked for your e-mail address, but it is not shown on the top line, and in the 6 months or so it's been in use at DD, i've never recieved an e-mail from Lowell (or anyone) that i haven't expected.
Ralph's assessment is correct. It is transparent and has managed to cut down on some of the garbage that has shown up on DD from time to time. I've had no problem with it, and frankly, think it's needed here.

I was, and am surprised that new members like me didn't have to register first.

I've just seen the new software and it looks very professional IMO.

I admit that I still have a lot to learn on the handling of mischievious people and look forward to the new challenge.

Lowell is extremely busy right now so I can't give you an implemetation date.

The new forum and the Robert West story will forthcoming once his schedule permits.

I applaud your changes. I've belonged to a hiking site here in Arizona for years, it got out of hand, we tried everything and the final solution was shuting down the forum portion of the site. I've never understood why the nut-cases of the world insist on inflicting themselves on the masses. Why don't they start their own site called something like: : "Nut-case Ragings" and leave us alone.

Posts can be rated by members on a scale of 1-5. I assume/hope this will be anonymous.

Posts can be edited by uploaders within 60 minutes of hitting the system.
