What's up Kev, Trenita Wolmack was the other female in the group. she sang & played the flute. I don't know what happened to her. Peace!

Please excuse the typo. I meant Womack. Peace!
![]() ![]() |
I guess Trenita has no connection with the famous Womack musical clan (Bobby et al)??

"This Must Be Heaven" (1978) is the only Brainstorm track I've heard so far. I will discover more gems from them as time passes on.

I LOVE THIS GROUP....'We're on Our Way Home' is just a CLASSIC song, and it is my favorite by them... it has a great GOSPEL overtone to it if you really listen to the lyrics.
Honorable mentions:
Journey To the Light
Everytime I see You I Go Wild
Loving is Really My Game
I know that DEON ESTUS the bass player for this group worked with GEORGE MICHEAL on every one of his solo projects...as far as I knew he was still active in ENGLAND and the STATES doing studio work...he had a solo effort in the 1990's a dance ballad that did pretty well... Ill holler back with the name of the song if someone on SD doesnt do it before I do....ESTUS is a HELL of a bass player....What has become of TRINITA WOMACK...?
JSSMITH: Trinita is a WOMACK relative ...I forget in what capacity...

yvanaye, Deon Estus also worked with Marvin Gaye during the time he stayed in Europe because of his IRS problems (he was living in Ostende in Belgium)
There was an amazing document where you could see Marvin living the Belgian life... and rehearsing in the studio with great musicians (including Deon) and also singing in a church... That document was shown on french TV (but I guess it was shown everywhere back then) shortly after he died...

The song by Deon Estus was Heaven Help Me, it came out in '89. Divanaye, I agree with your choices, Pt 2 of We're On Our Way Home was it. You had to have the long version to get the full impact of that song. How about Hot For You & the classic, This Must Be Heaven? I liked Wake Up & Be Somebdy, just not as much as I did the other songs.

Wonder B, could you be referring to footage shown in the "Motown on Showtime" docu on Marvin Gaye. I didn't know Deon was in it that session. Lemme check my laserdisc copy. Is it the scene where MG is rehearsing while lying on a couch? (LOL)
![]() ![]() |
absolutely Uptight... Look at it again I have that same laserdisc LOL
MG is singing I WANT YOU lying on the couch while all the others are playing around him...
Deon is there..

I first met Deon Estus at Top of the Pops when he was there with Wham during their bad Boys era.
I was there with Booker NewberryIII for his song Lovetown, which I wrote and produced.
Also present were Alison MOyet, Jimmy Sommerville, Joe Boxer, DC Lee and more.

Edwin do you have the reference for that DVD because I can't seem to recall ever getting that whole piece...
Bobby "LOVETOWN" was a great tune..., I always wondered why he disappeared after that because it was a fairly big hit in Europe... I know Booker Newberry was coming from the band SWEET THUNDER...
And Deon issued a solo LP shortly after hid 'WHAM stint'

Earlier this year when I was lurking, I remember a thread that started by asking if Brainstorm was the most underrated band of all time. Surprisingly, and I say that knowing the DIVERSE tastes and opinions on this board, nobody disagreed.
Soooo, I'm thinking, "where have I seen that name before?". Checked my collection, and there they were, not new, but unplayed by me.
This Must Be Heaven....damn, I didn't know that was them. Heard that song at least a dozen times. Loving is Really My Game. damn, same group? Boy was I sleeping. I remember putting them on opposite sides of a tape and playing it for several people this summer. And I realized, I wasn't the only one in the dark. To a person, they reacted as I did.
My other memory from playing the album the first time was, damn, that bass player is kicking...who the heck is that guy. Great chops, original sound, holding it down.
I live and learn.

Yeah, Edwin, what dvd contains that MG footage?

Isn't Trenita Womack the same woman who plays congas in the SITSOM movie under the name "Treaty' Womack?

Wonder B. Yeah, I watched my laserdisc over the weekend and saw the bass player in that scene, and he was the only bass player I remember (beside Rick James) who wore beaded braids in his hair! LOL.

Yes, I agree that IMHO Brainstorm was truly an underated band. "This Must be Heaven" was a blue light in the basement special for a lot of folks, but what did it for me was the haunting "If You Ever Need to Cry".

Actually Belita Woods has been singing with P. Funk since 85.

Kev-lo, where'd you find the Brainstorm collection cd? I'd love to purchase that.
![]() ![]() |
Would that be the sam Belita Woods who earlier did "Grounded" on Silver Fox? Its got some spins on the Northern Scene here.
![]() ![]() |
Wake up and be somebody, is probably my fave tune from them.
Although, they have made many other quality tracks too.

Dayo
Yes, it's the same Belita Woods.
Grounded b/w Magic Corner was on the Moira label - not Silver Fox, and Magic Corner was a biggish hit in Detroit.
