I've been searching for years for the name of the group and title of a great soul harmony group ballad that I bought in high school. Unfortunately, I lost the 45, but I managed to keep a copy- first on reel-to-reel, than on cassette and now on mp3! I'd love to search for a new, cleaner copy, but I don't know what to look for!!
I believe the record was issued in 1967 and I think (but I'm not totally sure) that the group was from Trenton, NJ. (Maybe the TNJ's?)
I listed the lyrics as best as I could determine from my muddled taped/MP3 version below:
LYRICS:
I know you really dont want me girl youre just saying that you do
I know you really dont need me girl youre just playing me for the fool
But baby I
Oh baby I
I love you
Oh yes I do
I know you are happy now that I found somebody new
But even though like a fool my love for you will never be through
But baby I
Oh baby I
I love you
I know you are happy now that I found somebody new
But, even though like a fool my love for you will never be through
But baby I
Oh baby I
I love you
Every time I walk down the street
Everybody says the girl I had was neat
But I know you are happy now that I found somebody new
But even though like a fool my love for you will never be through
But baby I
Oh baby I
I love you
Oh yes I do
Oh yes I do
Oh yes I do

Any help that anyone can provide would be terrific! Thanks!
And by the way...these boards are an absolute trip!

Oh man, you read my mind. I was going to ask about these brothers. The 5 man group was backed by two brothers, Scotty & Kim Miller & Raymond Earl. When the group split, they formed 2 groups: The vocal group, The TNJs & an instrumental group named Instant Funk. That's when the group met Bunny Sigler who produced The TNJs single, I Think I'm Falling In Love. After which, Bunny took the back up group, Instant Funk to Philly International, where they did an O'Jays session. Then he took them out on the road with him. Upon which, The TNJs seemed to have disappeared. We know what happened with Instant Funk, who gave us I Got My Mind Made Up in late 1978, which was a #1 (3 weeks)R&B smash in the Spring of 1979.
I think that perhaps Bobby Eli can give you more information regarding The TNJs.

Juice...
Yeah...I know the TNJ's eventually morphed into Instant Funk and connected with Bunny Sigler, but I was never certain that the song I'm searching for was, in fact, the TNJ's.
Juice, I wasn't totally clear on your message..are you telling me that your know for sure that it was the TNJ's and the title was "I Think I'm Falling In Love"? Or were you just mentioning another TNJ's single produced by Bunny?
I've been trying to figure out a way to contact some of the members of Instant Funk (who still have recording facilities in Trenton...I think) or even Bunny to ask them about this record...with no luck though.
Thanks Juice for the info so far...

By the way...Bunny's new CD (LP?) on Grapevine Records is terrific!

Hey AJ.
I have The TNJ's singles. I will give them a listen to see if the lyrics are the one you mentioned. I believe the cuts I have are uptempo Philly style dance tunes. They may have slow b-sides

Hey aj, sorry that I couldn't be more of help. I was listing a single that they had. I can't say for sure if that was the correct title.
Soulaholic, is it possible for you to list their singles, I know that they have at least one slow B-side. What label(s) did they record for? any help would be appreciated.
Peace

I believe the one they did with Bunny Sigler came out on orange coloured Chess.
