Who else here is a fan of these guys? I mean, before Lionel thought he was too good to be with them anymore, the Commodores put the F in FUNK. I was listening to their anthology last night and I was blown away at how "Just To Be Close To You" still makes me want to cry, like I was 15 again! :) I miss these guys. I wish Lionel would get over himself and reunite with the group. Even though I know that only two of the original members are in the group now (Clyde Orange and William King), I would love if Lionel would tour with them again. I would definitely be there for a reunion!! Who else loves this group like I do???

I love The Commodores, especially their earlier work. I like Machine Gun, Just to Be Close to You, Slippery When Wet, Sweet Love, Jesus Is Love, too many songs to name... (Let me pull out my Commodores Ultimate Collection CD)

Why is the Commodores not inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame yet? They were and still are one of the greatest r&b groups in the last 30 years and still going strong with Clyde and William carrying on the group on their own. Although it was the voice and excellent songwriting of Lionel Richie that put them on the map with songs like "Easy" and "Just To Be Close To You" to name a few, but "Brick House" just would'nt fly without Clyde putting his signature pipes on the hit track, and "Machine Gun" would not be the classic it is today with Milan Williams' wizardry on the synthesiser. All of the original members (before Lionel left for good in 1982) were essential in lending their prequisite skills on those songs that we love today and always, and it would be a great thing for us fans to see all of them back together one more time to entertain us and bring back more good memories of what was once (and still is) the funkiest band in the land.

Hey NYC Diva! How are you doing? I agree with SoniT, bigdaddy & yourself. It would be great to see them all back together again. They sounded great on the PBS special. They would still sound great together. As Lionel's career has slowed, I'm sure that this would be a great move for all of them.

I really credit The Commodores with making me a lifetime soul music fan. Seriously. They came of age when I did......I was a young teen when they were "Flying High"......The 'Dores made me realize soul was where my heart was, and it just took off from there.

I have groups and artists I love more these days.......but the 'Dores would definitely rank in my top 15.....and they'll always have a special place in my heart.....just like that first love.

What, Juicefree? They were on the PBS special?? Oh my God, I have not yet seen it. Now I know I have to! I always had a little crush on Clyde. LOL. He always looked so cute, like I could put him in my pocket and take him home. :)

I knew I wasn't alone out there. I love these guys...I even loved Lionel when he was a Commodore!! :) I was thinking of starting a little website for them. I can't seem to find any on the web and I think they deserve it!

Bigdaddy, I totally agree with you, that these guys should be in the Hall of Fame. They were a solid funk band that knocked everyone on their ear when I was a kid. "Too Hot To Trot" and "Slippery When Wet"? Forget about it. Those were my jams!! And that deep, heavy bass on "This Is Your Life"...still love it!! You can still move the crowd by putting on one of those early jams of theirs. I admire Clyde and William for keeping the group going the best way they can.

BTW, The Temptations' song "Shakey Ground" sounds an awful lot like the Commodores backed them up on that track. Does anyone know if they did?

The Commodores did indeed back up the Temptations on Shakey Ground. I also would like to see the Commodores reunite(all original members including Nicholas) and also be voted into the Hall Of Fame.

Ok Ms Diva! there goes another of my N.Y. girls publicly dissing me in the forum. First it was Chubby, now you & Clyde??? Oh no, now it's on like pop, pop, popcorn. What does a man have to do to get some respect up in here :)
Just for that, I'll tell you that I taped it on my computer & can watch it right now if I want to :)
Furthermore, they did a pretty good job on Brickhouse & your pocket pal did pretty nicely on percussion :).

The time is right, they need to try it again. All of them!

Peace!
Juice

LOL @ Juicefree. I'm not dissing you, hon! Don't be jealous of Clyde...he doesn't even know I exist...yet. LOL

Well, as far as a reunion goes...Motown 45 is coming up, the Commodores are one of the acts on the bill and Lionel is co-hosting...so just maybe...*crossing fingers*
