Hi Soul Sister,
I am friend of Beverly Lindsay-Johnson who is one of the folks putting this important event together. (I know she did a TV interview with Jimmy recently.....). Doowop in DC is an acknowledgment of many artists and those behind the scenes who were part of the Great Day in Harlem Photo Shoot of June 6, 1999. This 3 day event will take place in Washington DC, June 24 thru June 26 of this year. Some of the people being awarded/recognized will be: Richard Barrett, Eddie Rich (Swallows), Hal Jackson, Bobby Robinson (Red Robin Records), Bill Pinkney (Drifters), Floyd "Buddy" McRae (Chords), Leon (actor), and more! Here is the direct link to the web site that Beverly has put up:

Nikki;
How ya' doing. Yes, Beverly e-mailed this info. I see Rosemary McCoy is being honored also, she is so deservent she wrote so many recognized songs for many artists including Jimmy in the 50's.
All praises and kudos to both you Nikki & Beverly. As for the pioneers deserving honors indeed!! Should turn out to be a fasinating event. Wish we could be there but we will be doing the Toronto & Montreal Jazz Festivals over those dates.
Thanks for helping to keep the music alive. By the way, I dug your site, keep up the good work!
All The Best,
S.S.
