Someone did a version of "Zippity Do Da" in the early 60's that had a guitar bridge in it with what had to have been one of the earlist versions of a "Fuzztone" Does anyone have the name of the group that did this version? It's one of those things that keep me up at night.

Bob B. Soxx & the Blue Jeans did "Zip-A-Dee Doo Dah" in 1962 on the Philles label. Is that the one you are looking for?

No, I should have mentioned that one. This version is much slower in tempo, and also has a very heavy bass line.

Thats the only one that I can think of too.
Its tempo was "slow" compared to the other Philes records.
It had a slowed down "hitch-hike" groove with a distorted guitar break that was caused by the amps mike being off and its sound being picked up by "room spill"

Bobby:
Damn! That's how Phil and his engineer Larry Levine recorded the guitar solo?!?
You scare me, bro...
Average:
Yup! It is Bob B Soxx & the Blue Jeans (featuring Darlene Love on the vocals) that cut "Zip" in the early 1960s for Philles Records.

Yea, Eli, I remember reading where Phil said it was a mistake how they got that guitar sound and that he told Larry Levine..."No thats it, leave it alone".

Phil Collins infamous "In the air tonight" drum sound was also accidental, done in a similar manner.
It his case, the talkback mikes were left on.
