SHEPPARD BOY & The Heatwaves:
1142 - MY ANGEL BABY - TAKE YOU FROM YOUR GUY - GOLD label
1980 - MY ANGEL BABY - BABY I NEED YOU - RED label (rarer)
DONI BURDICK-CANDLE/AND WHAT YOU GONNA DO.
these tracks were first exposed to the Northern Soul scene after a visit by UK dealer Adey Pierce, to Ron Miller in Detroit. He cut them onto an acetate for Adey along with Chris Clark's "Do I love you". About six months later Ron struck a deal with Goldmine etc

Dave
Ron Murphy?
![]() ![]() |
Sorry, slip of the keyboard, of course it's Mr.Murphy.
"What you gonna do" is one of the best uptempo Detroit dance tracks there is - has this backing track been utilised elsewhere?

Here's Ron playing one of my all time favourite tracks.....The Swingers "I Found The Right Girl".
Ron is Number One when it comes to knowledge of the Music of Sixties Detroit.

So is that how the Chris Clark "Do I Love You" white label 45 that was sold by Goldmine came about?
![]() ![]() |
Evening John!
I believe Martin Koppell visited Ron a few months after Adey and got a copy and it kinda went from there, I guess.

What's The Dome, sir?!?!?!?!
http://www.capitolsoulclub.homestead.com/cscindex.html
That's what it is...and the Motown played is of the 60's variety! ;-)
![]() ![]() |
does it have beds, armchairs and a nurse to care for the over 40's!
![]() ![]() |
Is that '40's' as in inches around the waist?? One day I will get to the Dome. I met a guy from Denmark who flew in specifically to go to a Northern Soul bash there and he was young, early twenties! Popular!
![]() ![]() |
I thought he meant for folk wearing trousers with 40" bottoms...we don't get many of those in, mind!
There are chairs/stools around...and a record bar...ah, you're interested now, aren't you?! ;-)
