Dennis, I see that the first Eastbound label release (E600) was produced by yourself and Mike Theodore. It's a song called "Counrty Girl" that Jimmy Delphs recorded. It was written by Ronnie Shannon. What can you remember about it - and working for Armen?
TIA, Graham

Hi Graham. Mike and I did a lot of sessions for Armen and his labels - Westbound and Eastbound. We were under contract to him in the late seventies. We did three albums on me and also produced and did arrangements for different artists like the Fantastic Four and C.J. and Company. We recorded most of our tracks at Pac 3 and mixed at Criteria Studios in Miami. We also did some projects for Westbound in LA.

Hi Graham. We may have recorded the Jimmy Delphs record at Tera Shirma. I'm not sure. I think I also played guitar on it.

Thanks Dennis. I'm wondering why you had to trek down to Miami to mix some of the Westbound tracks?
Was it simply to get some winter sunshine?

Hi Graham. Mike Theodore and I were trying to upgrade our mixing capabilities. Criteria was an amazing studio. They had everything. When we were there we saw the BeeGees and Steven Stills recording. The studios in Detroit were great but after living in LA, we wanted to try a different studio for mixing. Don't forget we mixed Scorpio at RCA Studios in New York City with engineer Ray Hall. We were always trying to improve our quality and increase our musical choices. Of course we did enjoy the Miami nightlife.

Thanks again Dennis,
When you cut for Westbound/Eastbound did you use the old garage or the "new" studio at Pac 3?

Hi Graham. We recorded in the garage with our good friend, studio owner/engineer, Richard Becker. I played on many hits at Pac 3 as well as producing Westbound Records there. The new studio wasn't built yet. Last year Mike Theodore and I recorded an artist named Jonah in the new Pac 3 studio. The new studio sounds real good!
