By next week we should have a new webisode on line.
Actually it is more of a database than a webisode.
It is a listing of the Studios of Sixties Detroit.
Stay Tuned.

Does anyone know who owned Viney Records?

Richard Searling had Chris King on his show last weekend. Chris reported that Tim Brown has just bought quite a lot of studio tapes from Pioneer Studios that Chris is checking out at the moment. Wow!
Chris played 'I Play For Keeps' by Theresa Lindsey - a fantastic song which has the same backing to Jackey Beaver's 'I Need My Baby'.

Yes that is interesting news Ian.
I've got a nice ad for Pioneer which is in the webisode coincidentally.

David, I'll try and find out a few more details once I've stemmed the flow of saliva! I'm going on hols soon but will catch up on my return!

David, Forrest Hairston owned Viney - it was his mother's name.

VINEY-FOREST HAIRSTON - GO ON AND TELL ME/NO SECOND CHANCE.
On yellow Viney, not red.
Ian, are you sure it wasn't the Carla Thomas version Chris played?

So....is there a version of "I Play For Keeps" by Theresa Lindsey or not? If yes, I'd really like a tape of it so I can give her a copy when I see her in September. If anyone can oblige I'll gladly reciprocate with a compilation tape of various Detroit recordings.

Just back from hols! Richard Searling mentioned the recording was another version of 'I Play For Keeps' and Chris King said it was one of the unreleased treasures to come from the purchase of 1000 Pioneer studio tapes by Tim Brown. It was Chris who attributed the track to Theresa Lindsey!
I've not heard Carla Thomas' version but would like to! Is 'Memphis Queen' an expensive lp to find?

curious to know who owns the rights to those masters, not just who has possession of the physical tapes
