Hi caddymomma!
Welcome to our site! Where will you be staying? If you're downtown, there's always Greektown which is fun. The casinos also have excellent restaurants which aren't too expensive. If you're in the suburbs, I need to know which one so I can give you the names of restaurants in those areas.

Millie, thanks so much for the information. I will be staying in Dearborn. I didn't know that Detroit had casinos. Any more information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Caddy...
Dearborn has two really nice hotels, the Hyatt on Michigan Avenue @ Southfield Road, and the Ritz Carlton on the Southfield service drive between Ford Road and Michigan Avenue. They're probably pretty expensive though...I'm sure there will be a Holiday Inn somewhere along Telegraph Road. Good luck and have a great time here.

Dearborn has many sensational middle easten restaurants. The best is LaShish on Michigan Avenue - delicious and inexpensive. Next door to it is a wonderful Vietnamese place called Amman. Cheap, great. Lots of good food in the Detroit area.

There is a Holiday Inn on Ford Road & the Southfield Expressway (M39). It's near the other two more expensive hotels that were mentioned, the Hyatt and the Ritz.
I think there is also a Marriot Courtyard next to the Holiday Inn if I am not mistaken. There is a large shoping mall right in this area too, called Fairlane.
It would be convienent for you to lodge in that area because you would be near shopping, resturants, a movie theater (in Fairlane, and the expressways.

Hey, Caddymomma, the Courtyard is on Mercury Drive North of Michigan Ave and south of Ford Road. And there is an inexpensive restaurant on Michigan Avenue across from the La Shish between Mason and Monroe - it's a blues bar - vert good food, drinks and not very expensive.

There's also the Dearborn Inn across from the Ford test track on Oakwood. A cool place to eat (if it is still open - I haven't been there for a couple years) is the Pool restaurant on the old Henry Ford estate. It is located in what used to be Henry Ford's swimming pool. It's located behind the University of Michigan-Dearborn campus off of Evergreen and across from the Fairlane Mall. It may only be a lunch place.
Now the question becomes: "Why are you staying in the heart of Ford country to celebrate the anniversary of the Cadillac?"
Regards,
Ken

An even BETTER blues bar, Sully's Roadhouse, is opening in November in the old Dearborn post office. There the music will be the focus.
You'll have to come back for that one Caddymamma.
