Who can tell me about The Festivals (Gordy) who had one single (that I'm aware of) "Green Grow The Lilacs". I don't know why...but I just loved that song !

Read all about them on the All Music Guide Website. I believe that they were from Dallas, Texas. Jerry Ross recorded their Colussus sides in New York with Johnny Pate arranging. Mr. Pate had previously done arrangements for the impressions. Their Motown single is arranged by Chuck Sagle.

They were originally from Texas. Their earlier 45s for Smash mention a studio down there.
BTW, their Smash 45s are killer soul and can be found relatively CHEAP!!
Best,
Mark

One of my favorite Festival tunes is "You've Got The Makings of A Lover" on the Smash label.

Uh, Flynny..."Potion of Love"/"Another Love" is by the AMBERS, also on Smash!
