I've always been a fan of Maxine Powell's and am very glad she's been honored. Refinement, manners, decorum, poise--they all require teaching and learning.

Class, however, I think is something totally different. Unlike the attributes I mention about, I don't think class is something you can visually see about a person--it requires knowing the person. It's who the person is and how he or she handles all of the their affairs, their life. And it evolves. Not something you can necessarily see with the eye but you know it when it's there. Because you feel it by what the person does.
