Howdy, Nightflight Listeners! Join me, along with the lovely and talented Justine [[sadly, this is her last show for a while) , for 3 hours of who the hell know what! Well.....I do know specifically, but not generally, because, they don't fit into any one particular category, and they include lots of things aired previously on the show....but some haven't been played for quite a while. And some....well....I'll let you find out just by tuning in your good old Radiola...or any one of a dozen kinds of electronic equipment! All this unknown material...and more....on "Nightflight"....on WOMR 92.1 FM Provincetown and WFMR 91.3 FM Orleans and streaming live worldwide in digital stereo at www.womr.org [[http://www.womr.org/)
See ya later!

I remember the The Variations. I loved their album "Something Slightly Different From Another Of The Same Type". Man, I could cut a rug to those tracks. See you and the gang on the Radiola for a night of musical diversity - and guest star Justine!

No, but it may be soon! LOL! Along with "[[The Ballad of) Sharknado" by Quint. Trivia: Quint was name of Robert Shaw's character in "Jaws".

Wasn't the first actual Sharknado back in 2000 but known then as the Return To Love Tour?;)

Answers do vary. Some sites list gam, grind, school, herd, pod, collage or shiver.

If we're being honest, Sharknado keeps on keepin' on in way too many threads on the Motown Forum at Soulful Detroit.

Yes, John, the original "Maybe" was by the Chantels. And I believe it was also produced by Richard Barrett, the same guy who produced the 3 Degrees version.

Love this version. It always reminded me a lot of the long version of "Since I Fell For You" by Laura Lee which came out a year or two later.

However, that's not the original meaning of the word. It was the name of a popular dance in 1913, which goes like this:

"First you put your two knees close up tight
Then you sway them to the left, then you sway them to the right
Step around the floor kind of nice and light
Then you twist around and twist around with all your might,
Stretch your loving arms straight out into space,
Then you do the Eagle Rock with style and grace.
Swing your foot way 'round then bring it back.
Now that's what I call Ballin' the Jack."

Thirteen Men: Ann-Margret [1962]

Last night I was dreamin'
I dreamed about the H-Bomb
Well the bomb went off and I was caught
I was the only gal on the ground

Mmm, there were 13 men and me the only gal in town
Uh, there were 13 men and me the only gal in town
And, as funny as it may be
The one and only gal in town was me
Uh, 13 men and me the only gal in town

Uh, there were two men every morning
A-seein' that I was well fed
And believ-a you me, one sweetened my tea
While the other one a-buttered my bread

Uh, 2 men giv-a me oil wells
Uh, 2 men giv-a me gold
And another sweet thing bought me a diamond ring
About a-forty carats I am told

Ah, 13 men and me the only gal in town, uh
Uh, there were 13 men and me the only gal around
It was something I can't forget
‘Cause I think of those a-13 a-gentlemen yet...
Uh, 13 men and me the only gal around

Mmm. well there were 3 guys dancin' the Mambo
Uh, 3 guys ballin' the jack
And all the rest really did their best
Boy, surely was a lively pack

Ah, 13 men and me the only gal in town
There were 13 men and me the only gal around
Though she won't tell you where she's been
‘Cause it was a just a dream I hope I dream again

Uh, 13 men and me the only ga-hal around
Uh, there were 13 men and me around
There were 13 men and me the only livin' gal in town…

Thanks for the plug Justine and John! The Summer of 1963 was when I discovered Diana Ross and The Supremes. So it's a 50th Anniversary celebration show. 50 years of Diana Ross' music.

"Diana 50" will not be chronological. I jump era to era, genre to genre. I also decided to leave out the obvious [[Ain't No Mountain, Endless Love, Touch Me In The Morning, Love Hangover, etc) in favor of lesser known songs, foreign only releases, album tracks, etc. I enjoyed putting it together and hope it will be a program that you all will enjoy. Thanks for the opportunity John.
