A discussion popped up in the Diana Ross interview thread about the songs she’s used as her opening number in her live shows. What are some of your favorite concert openers you’ve experienced and why did the opening song work so well for you?

My favorite opening song is "Mac Arthur Park" performed by the Four Tops in concert. It would start with Levi on stage alone, doing a solo then the fellas with step in with their impeccable harmonies........whew! Too much!

OK.
I liked Gladys Knight and the Pips opening How Can You Say That I Don't Love You. which they recorded while at Motown but used it as their opening song after they had hits on Buddah.

I remember Syreeta opening up her show with I Love Every Little Thing About You,back in the day,Syreeta put on a great show,i also like when The Supremes Mary Cindy and Jean opening they're show, with Feelin' Good,Jean started singing slow off stage, and when The Supremes were introduced, all three came out singing Feelin' Good, they were PHENOMENAL.Please stay positive

Good question, wow i would have to say[welcome home]walter jackson,i think he opened with it because it gave him time to get on stage[most of you know he had polio and used crutches]what courage[he stood for his whole performance]great opening song great singer.
