I was watching an old VHS tape tonight that I recorded probably back in the early to mid 90s, but the show was actually from the late 70s. During a commercial, I heard the Marvelettes singing Please Mr. Postman. It appeared to be a promo for a movie that I think was entitled "Dear God."

Does anyone remember such a movie and if so, was there a soundtrack for it featuring our girls? Any other good stuff on it?

Never 'hoid of it but apparently there is such a movie...can't find mention of the soundtrack, however.

After I posted my initial message, I thought to check it out on Internet Movie Database, and it was a 1996 movie featuring Greg Kinnear, so that means that the commercial I saw was from that time frame. Still wonder why the Marvs' were featured in the ad though. Maybe someone else will have some further insight.

"Please Mr. Postman" apparently has been used in many films. I think the early Robert DeNiro film "Mean Streets" [[pretty sure it's that film) has a scene where there's a bar fight going on and meanwhile, "Postman" is blaring away on the juke box.

Besides Martin Scorsese's MEAN STREETS [[1973), The Marvelettes' PLAYBOY turned up in his GOODFELLAS [[1990).

@methuselah2,

Obviously, Scorsese is a Marvelettes fan!
