Nothing But Soul

The American Studios Sessions And More by Carla Thomas has been added to the coming soon section at the Ace Records web site.

There is some controversy concerning the title of this release, judging by the comments I've read at a southern soul forum that I visit. Anyone expecting a CD full of Carla being backed by the "American Boys" at American Studios will be disappointed. The majority of this CD is previously unreleased material recorded at the Stax Studio during the period 1964-68--hence the "And More" portion of the title.

This release may be of interest to Carla Thomas fans regardless of where the recordings were made.

Its actually about 50 per cent American and 50 per cent Stax. The initial posts on the southern soul forum were not clear.

Whatever, it's bound to be good. Carla's voice is a treat.

What southern soul forum? Carla is pleased because ACE pays royalties.;)
Enjoy.
