Anyone know how Susaye came to be signed to Trude Heller & Gloria Toote's
Tru-Glo-Town Record label in 67[[?) ??
She had a 45 out on the label - "That's The Way My Love Is" [[T-G-T # 507)

Miss Greene actually post here jsmith so she may answer this personally. Miss greene is real gracious and lovely and has shared a lot of things from her career with us.

Yours, with every good wish.

Jsmith - From what I've read, T-G-T Records was located in New Jersey in the 60s and Susaye graduated from New York City's High School of Performing Arts, perhaps around 1967. I remember Trude Heller owning a famous nightspot in NYC around the same time, as well. But I have no concrete info as to how Susaye got on the T-G-T label.

I was able to hear a portion of the tune via this link [[1 min.):

I bought that record in 1966. Here's a scan of it. It was produced by Jesse Herring, Jr. and written by him and Joe Moore.

Thanks for that info.
Jesse Herring seemed to do a lot of work for Tru-Glo-Town around 67/68 though he seemed to start out in the music biz down in the Baltimore / Philly areas [[for the likes of Hope, Phi LA of Soul & Up-Look). He also worked with Jerry Ragavoy on Loma tracks.
... AND ... Yes, Trude Herring owned / ran 2 famous NY clubs from the mid 60's thru to the mid 70's. The 1st ended up sharing her name , whilst the other [[the Trik) had 1 of 2 soul groups on almost constantly as club house band [[Benny Gordon & the Soul Brothers, Eddie Jacobs & the Mighty Soul Rockers).
Trude had promoted a big prestigious NY show [[at the Lincoln Centre Philharmonic Hall) for the Supremes in October 65.
So Trude helped introduce the Supremes to the NY celebrity crowd & also got Susaye Greene's recording career started. Quite a coincidence seeing as Susaye would go on to join the group.
