They were a group put together by Andre Cymone, Prince's friend. they were supposed to be
his version of Vanity 6. That was their only album and they sunk right after it....

I bought that album on spec. Played it once, didn't like what I heard, and now it's collected dust for 30 years.

After listening to the youtube video...maybe there's a reason I never heard of them back in 84!

I'll give it a listen to later, blueskies. Prince was super influential back in the days, encouraging Cymone to create this abomination and Rick James to come out with the Mary Jane Girls [[worst name for a group - EVER). I'm still trying to decide if I liked the Mary Jane Girls nearly 30 years after they came out...

I thought Mary Jane Girls preceded Vanity 6 and they were not an imitation/cash in on Vanity 6? Mary Jane Girls had a couple of fun jams.

Andre Cymone had better luck [[and produced better songs) with Jody Watley in the late 80s.

Google says you are correct, I stand corrected. And you are right about their better songs. "All Night Long" remains one of Rick James' best joints.
